Did Globe Just Give You a Siemens Gigaset 260?

Did Globe Just Give You a Siemens Gigaset 260?

This afternoon, I had a visit from a couple of chaps from Globe who told me that my old Prolink 9200 modem is at the end of its life and needs to be replaced. I think I scared them both off as they let me do all the wiring myself. Good thing that they gave me a filter and an extra phone cable to hook everything up.

Now the big problem is that I use a Linksys WRT54G router for its QoS and wireless capabilities. On the Prolink, I was able to enable bridging mode. But if you try the default username and password user/user on the Siemens modem, youíll get neutered options.

A quick trip to PinoyDSL.net gave me the answers to my problems and here they are courtesy of user luolan from Malibay, Pasay City.

Default Username Working For SIEMENS S260

URL: http://192.168.1.1 (to unlock ADVANCE tab)
    Username: user
    Password: user

Just make sure to set your router to a different IP. For example on my Linksys, I set it to 192.168.1.100. You have to hook up your PC directly to the Siemens modem to configure it. Just use the Admin credentials.

Once youíre logged in, your first order of business is to change the password to something you can easily remember. I personally used Admin to make it idiot friendly.

Anyway, the settings you need are VPI 0 and VCI 35. Then set the connection mode from PPPoE to 1483 Bridged. Leave the LLC setting and donít choose VC-Mux. You can just modify the original profile listed and then save changes. Also, make sure to go to LAN settings then disable DHCP. Afterwards Save and Reboot changes.

Then just go back to your router and make sure that PPPoE is enabled. The username will be your e-mail address with globe which is most likely yourname@globelines.com.ph. The password by default is your account number which can be seen on your latest bill.

If you need more help on this, hit me back or try the PinoyDSL forums. Donít try calling Globe Technical Support. Theyíll just tell you that only their on-site technicians are allowed to do so. They just probably donít know the settings themselves. The two on-site guys who came here surely didnít.

    mga bro,
palihug ko tabang... nag try ko setup sa akong bag-o nga router Linksys WRH54G with the siemens modem SE260 DSL nga gisupply sa Globe broadband.. ako gi set ang router to DHCP, di man ko ka connect internet.. dayun, ako gitawag ang globe, ingon nila set to PPPoE and they gave me the username and password and to set the IP address to 192.168.1.1 kay mao man daw ni ip address sa modem.. so i did, pero di gihapon ko ka connect sa internet (desktop or laptop which are both connected to the router)...
gitawag nako balik ang globe, ingon nila di na daw nila covered ang router issues.. the most they can help is giving me the username and password.. huhuhuh...
unsa inyong ika suggest ako buhaton sa pag setup sa router... salamat kaayo!
