kinsa mga taga talisay kakita aneng tawhana nagdrive ug trisikad?

When the hunger pangs eventually wore off, what was left was mental and physical fatigue.

At least, after ferrying passengers around on a trishaw for 12 hours, Mr Ian Bland had his host's squatter home to return to - there were less fortunate children living on the streets, some of whom sniffed cheap solvents to take the edge off the gnawing hunger.

Mr Bland, a Singapore Permanent Resident and freelance charity worker, thought he knew what life was like for Filipino families living barely above the poverty line, having visited them several times. But a week spent living among them earlier this month, working as a trisikad rider with his host family living off his daily earnings, showed just how little he knew. "It's incredibly more difficult than I could imagine from the outside looking in," the 43-year-old said.
