yeah i agree...its what they call as TagBis (Tagalog Bisaya) sometimes guilty ko usahay ana...considering na i grew up in davao nainfluence pud ko gamay..coz there are times na if i speak in bisaya naay words na masagulan ug tagalog! ehehehehehe pero usahay ra ha!*

* " and naa pud mga tagalog jud kaayo!

pero i cant blame them kay nagsagol sagol man gud ang mga tao sa davao.naay taga Gensan (where we got our semi ilonggo accent), mga migrants from Luzon (Metro Manila and other regions) and of course Cebu (where most of the dabawenyos relatives are) Also, even sa school namo before, magtagalog man ang mga teachers namo....

With the "lagay system" maybe not all..wala man ko naka experience ana gud..i once opened a "small" biz in davao before..it was my first time to apply for a permit..dali ra man nako nahuman and wala ko naka-agi ug lagay system.

for those who had not been to davao, davao is nice baya. there are also big malls. tanang malls nga gi post ni tj, ive been there, observant sad baya ta sa developments in each city.
however, i also observed that malls are killing each other, kay wa man mo grow ang purchasing power sa davaonenos cause there are less industry there, most are into agribusiness, less in manufacturing and worse tourism industry is so down, almost all hotels especially Marco Polo is lossing so much money.

You know i love Davao to succeed because if i were to choose, its my alternative place to live. it just seems that the local leadership had overdone things, which is not anymore healthy to free market system. and i also observe that mostly locals are investing on food business, wala na lain nahibaloan, unlike Cebu, we have a dynamic business environment. Naa tay specialization. and people are very enterprising despite of our very limited resources.

Cebu will be the next Singapore or Hongjong in the next five to ten years. thats my fearless forecast.

    how bout everbody?
With Davao's tourism industry...it isnt as supreme as what we have here in Cebu! this is because of the negative travel advisories against sa Mindanao as a whole and negative perception pud sa mga tao sa area.

However, right now hinay hinay na pud ug apas ang Davao when it comes to tourism biz. Considering sa outcome sa recently concluded na Asean Tourism Forum (www.atf2006.com) sa Davao and the international publicity that the city got from CNN during that one week forum.

One thing i agree with you though, mas enterprising ang Cebuanos jud! mas innovative pa!

i think if u r a night owl, davao has fewer spots than cebu to go to. but f u r a nature freak, then davao perhaps boasts some of the world's great wonders! look at mt. apo. i've never been to davao myself but judging thru photos of the mountain, i can say it's exhiliratingly awesome and wonderful! davao should not market itslef as a city, it should sell itself as a nature country!

chances are, people will flock to davao more than ever before..................to cultivate durian plantation!

It would be better if there would be many progressive cities in the Philippines that would be complementing with each other rather than competing.

Take a look at other countries, if we speak of Thailand, only Bangkok and ChiangMai comes into our mind. If we mention India, only Bombay or Calcutta, if Spain then only Madrid or Barcelona, if England then only London!, if France then Paris, etc..etc.. It would be nice to hear that if we mention Philippines, a lot of cities would come into the mind of other people -- Cebu, Manila, Davao, Iloilo, Bacolod, Cagayan de Oro, etc..

hmmmmm yeah ur right...one way halos tanan na streets sa downtown...pero the traffic scheme is working man pud! dili kaau traffic! with the malls...in fairness dako dako baya if u ll compare it to the other malls sa Mindanao or even here in Cebu...of course Ayala Center Cebu is huge! but what are other huge malls here in Cebu? SM and Ayala... followed by Gaisano Country Mall, e-Mall and Robi. but Gaisano South Citimall of Davao is even bigger than Robi or e-Mall. Gaisano Mall of Davao is similar to Ayala but not exactly the same when it comes to its floor area. Ayala is bigger! and SM Davao is so small compared to SM Cebu! that i have to admit! Victoria Plaza (which is open and i wonder if when sya na close coz i havent heard of any) is bigger than Gaisano Country Mall.* NCCC Mall is in between.

In regards with Jacksridge, maybe you wont see any or wont appreciate the Davao's skyline....but most Mindanaoans do, considering that other cities in Mindanao's skyline (CDO, Butuan, Gensan, Zambo, etc) - consist of low rise buildings only.... You cant compare Cebu's skyline to Davao's. It's like comparing Metro Manila's to Cebu's. I mean, what you can see in Antipolo's highlands (Ortigas, Eastwood, and Makati) is not the same with what you ll see here in Tops Cebu and what you'll find in Davao's Jacksridge.

I love Davao - its where i grew up.... I love Manila - its where i once lived .... I love Cebu - its where i'll grow old!* *
