• Vero: Creating jewelry with the language of art

We’ve all seen and adored the exquisiteness of paintings hung on walls and sculptures placed still on well-lit corners of a quaint museum or art gallery. You would have to swing by to these places to bask in their beauty and experience them with our senses.

But have you once explored the idea of imbuing the designs of art pieces into earrings and necklaces so you get to wear and carry them wherever you go? Simply stated, have you thought about wearing art?
This was the central concept of the homegrown artisanal fine jewelry line, Vero’s latest holiday collection which they formally released through their trunk show dubbed as Art Storm last Oct. 21 at Anzani Prime.

In line with its purpose to deliver one-of-a-kind pieces to the jewelry market this Christmas season, Vero continues to tread on the road of avant-garde concepts. And designs to bring a unique line of never-been-seen-before jewelry pieces.

      Gladys Young

This time, designer Gladys “G” Young has veered away from taking design inspirations from fashion magazines to put a laser focus on the elements of paintings and sculptures and integrate them into necklaces, bracelets, cuffs, and earrings. This is to create what the market will now call fine and wearable art.

“(For this holiday collection) I deviate from the norm. I don’t like conventional piece, I’d like to create an edge. Life is very boring if you stick to the norm,” G said on the sidelines of the Art Storm trunk show. She emphasized that she created these pieces with the bold, confident, and accomplished women in mind.

To create these wearable art pieces, G took inspiration from the curves, geometry, character, grace, and architectural details usually applied on crafting paintings and sculptures. G also has also breathed new life to old and unusable jewelry by redesigning them using precious and semi-precious stones.

In the coming months, Vero is set to release a set of classic and wearable jewelry pieces that women can mix and match with their daily outfits. In 2018, the jewelry line will create and introduce its first men’s collection.
