United States-based clinical process outsourcing firm, Shearwater Health, recently transferred its Cebu operations to a new location — the Mabuhay Tower inside the Cebu IT Park.

With its clientele and workforce growing, Shearwater’s leadership team headed by chief operating officer, Anshum Sinha, decided it was time for a new home, immediately finding it inside one of Cebu’s premier business hubs.

Shearwater Health will be occupying five floors inside the Mabuhay Tower. The firm used to operate from the 2Quad Building at the Cebu Business Park

“As we needed to accommodate a growing number of clients, we chose to open a bigger Cebu site. We are pleased with our Cebu operations and wish to continue here for years to come,” said Sinha, who was joined at the press conference by Tom Kendrot, the president and chief financial officer of Shearwater Health.

The company arrived in the Philippines got its name from the shearwater bird, a migratory seabird known to travel long distances.

Shearwater Health at the moment employs a workforce of 567 people. But the new offices would allow them to expand to at least 1,200 by the end of next year.

“As we move to a bigger location, we will definitely offer more job opportunities for highly motivated, career-driven and hardworking nurses and clinicians. We are offering jobs for about 500 USRN (US Registered Nurse), PHRN (Philippine Registered Nurse) and medical coders,” Sinha added.

Sinha explained that they evaluated other places, just as they were about to expand outside of Manila. They chose Cebu because of its location and its proximity to other regions that also has a cache of nursing graduates that they may be able to tap into.

“With high-quality healthcare professionals, the Philippines is a conducive environment for our company to thrive. We don’t have problems delivering the needs of our clients,” said Kendrot.

Shearwater has been an industry leader in providing high-quality clinical staff for healthcare providers and companies requiring skilled clinical experience since 1973. The global giant has more than 2,000 clinicians in HITRUST-certified and URAC-accredited facilities in the Philippines that operate in remote, dedicated teams for its clients. (Jonas Panerio)
