• Shangri-La celebrates Global Wellness Day

Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort & Spa celebrated this year’s Global Wellness Day last June 8. Global Wellness Day is held on the second Saturday of June every year.

Global Wellness Day believes that a day can change your whole life. Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort & Spa said yes to a day of wellness, healthy food, and fitness activities. Guests started their day as early as 6 AM. There was sunrise cycling with General Manager René D. Egle around Cordova. At the same time, there was morning jogging with Resident Manager Joost Folkers at the jogging trail. There was also sunrise aerial and mat yoga at Paradise Island.

After breakfast, guests participated in an exciting corporate social responsibility activity. The resident marine biologist guided guests through a coral planting activity. Guests put the planted corals at the Marine Sanctuary. The activity provided a new home for marine life and raised awareness about saving the ocean. Shangri-La believes that wellness includes looking after the well-being of our community and environment.

After lunch, CHI, The Spa’s therapists held a special chocolate spa treatment at the Cacao Garden. The afternoon was lined-up with fun fitness activities.

There was fitness boxing at Treasure Island, circuit training at the Adventure Zone Gardens, and Aqua Zumba at the Main Pool. Towards the end of the day, there was sunset aerial and mat yoga at Paradise Island. To conclude the day, Cowrie Cove served sunset cocktails.

With wellness comes healthy eating habits. Throughout the day, the resort’s in-house restaurants featured healthy cuisines. Breeze Bar served healthy breakfast with fruits, taho, and whole wheat spinach wraps. Lunch at Tides featured dishes using organic and sustainably-farmed ingredients. For dinner, Cowrie Cove prepared a fresh seafood feast.
