• Morissette Amon sets concert in Cebu next month

Cebuana singer Morissette Amon is set to wow Cebu once again in a concert entitled “In the Key of Love” on February 1, 2020, at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino.

Presented by retail platform Jigijog.com, Morisette will be joined by promising singer Jej Vinson, who recently wowed all four judges of the acclaimed American singing competition “The Voice.”

The 23-year old songstress, who has since earned the moniker “Asia’s Phoenix,” promised fans that the upcoming concert would be more than just a showcase of her tremendous vocal abilities.

“It will not be just a showcase but a storytelling of what love is for us,” she said during a press conference with Cebu media late last month.

In spite having already staged a concert here in Cebu back in 2018, Morisette admits to still feeling nervous whenever she is about to perform in her hometown.

“(I feel) mas pressured. (The) expectations in Luzon is that maayo jud ka mukanta. Times 10 ang kulba in Cebu. Maayuhon jud kada performance. Kulbaan jud ko basta naa diri Cebu. But it feels like home,” Morisette added.

Born and raised in Cebu, she eventually moved to Manila to pursue her dreams of becoming an artist. And although she fell short of winning TV5’s “Star Factor,” she earned a recording contract with Star Music in 2014 and finally released her first album the following year.

Aside from Jej, Morisette is also being joined by 3rd Avenue, Yessha and Jolianne. She offered this piece of advice to the two young performers.

“I didn’t win but that didn’t stop me from fulfilling my dream. Maski wa kadaug sa contest, it doesn’t mean you should stop pursuing your dream. Don’t stop. Padayun lang jud and take care of the gift that you were given,” she said.

Jej, who is based in the United States, also expressed his excitement to work with Morisette.

“I am excited to collaborate more and showcase that in this concert,” he said.

Since his journey in “The Voice” ended back in May, the Davaoeno said he has had his hands full with numerous projects.

“Na busy ko. I signed with a booking agency. The best part was getting to meet the celebrity coaches. Daghan ko time na spend with Kelly (Clarkson). It was an amazing experience. (She’s) very genuine. Nag sige ra syag kaon while we were rehearsing. She’s that genuine. It was an awesome experience. She invited me to her concert in Las Vegas,” said Jej of her time with Grammy-award winning artist, Kelly Clarkson, whose team he was part of.

“Even though she’s busy, she makes time to talk to her artists. She still tries to communicate with all the artists she worked with on the show.” (Jonas Panerio)
