Lunar New Year Soul Alignment Retreat at the Helix

The newly reopened house at Soul Sierra in Busay is holding its first retreat to celebrate the Year of the Water Rabbit on the 21st and 22nd of January. The retreat will feature different styles of meditation, mindfulness practice, yin yoga, and cacao ceremony, to name a few of the activities.


Facilitating the retreat is Kazane Windy, a Cebu-based Reiki Master-Teacher who has been practicing Reiki energy healing since 2015. Reiki is a non-invasive therapy from Japan, where the client receives healing energy while fully clothed. Healers can do Reiki in person as well as through distance Reiki.

One of the activities, the cacao ceremony, is a remnant of the ancient civilizations of Mezoamerica, where the beans from the cacao tree were considered Food of the Gods. A cacao ceremony is similar to a Japanese tea ceremony in that it is performed with reverence and mindfulness. Meditation often accompanies Cacao ceremonies and is said to open the heart energy center or chakra.

The Lunar New Year Soul Alignment Retreat is open to everyone, regardless of gender, age, or religious belief.
