• The Flying Fish Boutique Hostel opens in Cebu

Dumaguete City’s premiere boutique hostel has now made its way to the city of Cebu. Planting its roots on 8 Adelfa St., El Dorado Subdivision, Banilad, the Flying Fish Hostel is now opening its doors to the traveler and local communities Cebu.

The Flying Fish Hostel prides itself in being the go-to haven for travelers and creatives alike. Whether one is looking for a place where they can rest their head at night after a rough day of transit, or if they’re just looking for a community where they feel like they can belong, The Flying Fish Hostel is there to cater to their every need. The Flying Fish brand fully believes that the modern traveler is a mindful one, and it takes this philosophy to heart in the way that it conducts itself as a business and as a community.

This boutique hostel is designed to be a conducive platform for people to converge, connect, and collaborate. It seeks to bring people from all walks of life together by binding them in community and culture. This has been the brand that its founder, Adrian Tan, has been wanting to cultivate since the beginning: a hostel that is built on principles of comfort, convenience, sustainability, design, and culture - all without having to compromise affordability.

The hostel first opened its doors to Dumaguete travelers and locals in August 2016. Tan committed himself to providing quality hospitality services at affordable rates. “Depending on your budget, it’s either you’re in a very shabby guesthouse or you’re at an overpriced resort. There is not much mid-range options in the Philippines. Even if there is, the amenities are usually not complete,” said Tan of the hospitality industry in the country. Fast forward to less than three years later, and Tan is now expanding the Flying Fish Hostel brand to the biggest city in the Visayas region.

The Cebu branch of the Flying Fish Hostel is capable of housing more than a hundred people at a time with the following room options:

      - Basic Private Room
      - Deluxe Double Room
      - Cozy Quadruple Room
      - Dorm Room (6-bed, 8-bed, 10-bed)

The Flying Fish brand enforces its commitment to sustainability even with the building of the Cebu branch with 95% of the building structure being made out of repurposed or upcycled materials such as old doors and furniture. Styrofoam and other non-biodegradable materials were also added into the cement mixture that was used for walls. But with sustainability in mind, the hostel doesn’t compromise on design either by offering lots of natural light and ventilation for its guests.

The new branch will also feature a beautiful roof deck that can be rented out for intimate events and community gatherings. It will also offer a haven for freelancers and creatives who are looking to get out of the office for a nice change of scenery. Co-working spaces that are fully equipped with Wi-Fi, desks, chairs, and international plug and USB ports are going to be available for all guests who want to stay productive within a safe communal space.

The Flying Fish Hostel brand is also going to be bringing with it to Cebu its in-house restaurant, Nom by Flying Fish. It’s a restaurant that specializes in traditional Asian offerings with a unique twist, thereby offering foodies and travelers alike with a unique gastronomic experience at easy and affordable rates.

The Cebu branch of the boutique hostel had its official launch on July 3rd fetching the attendance of special guests from the traveler and lifestyle community, and the media as well. In honor of its grand opening, the Flying Fish Hostel is offering a 30% discount on bookings for all room types (with booking period from July 4 - August 4).
