After reading this article, we hope you to go out on the streets on the 21st of January with the right expectations.

      More contingents, longer parade
Expect this year's grand parade to be longer as there are 30 groups competing for the sweet victory. This is according to Sinulog 2018 executive chairman councilor Dave Tumulak. The number includes eight out-of-town contingents. This is including Kidapawan, Panglao, Catbalogan, Samar, Abuyog, Dumaguete, Bais City Negros, and Pamplona Negros.

In anticipation, the city government has planned to begin the parade at an earlier time.

No more street parties at the heart of the festivities
In an Executive Order, Cebu City mayor Tomas Osmeña has pushed for the ban of street parties, concerts, live performances, gigs, and recitals within the 300-meter radius from the routes of the grand parade and procession. This is to ensure that the genuine spirit of the celebration is preserved as well as to prevent any untoward incidents from taking place.

      Liquor Ban
A liquor ban will also be imposed from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on the day of the Sinulog festivities to prevent the build-up of rowdy revelers on the streets. Also, all parties will be transferred to the South Road Properties (SRP), about 8 kilometers away from the center of the festivities.

Violators of these prohibitions will be taken to the detention cells in Kaohsiung buses which will be stationed along Gen. Maxilom Avenue and Juana Osmeña Street.

Sellers of alcoholic beverages will be relocated in SRP as well.
With this development, the Fuente Osmeña Circle will now purely become a tourist spot where tourists can experience the real vibe and essence of Sinulog sans the noise and disturbance of uncontrollable street parties.
