The cold Friday night weather did not stop the candidates of the first-ever Binibining Cebu 2017 from showcasing their sultry and sizzling personas during the swimsuit competition, held last Sept. 29 at the Grand Convention Center of Cebu.
The 54 stunning ladies wore a black one-piece swimsuit from SOLTI Activewear designed by its owner, fitness advocate Kymberly Maitland-Smith. With their straightforward yet elegant and classic design, the swimsuits highlighted the candidates’ confidence.
In an interview, Maitland-Smith pointed out that the swimwear pieces worn by the contingents were specifically designed to be simple yet fit enough for the classy Filipina. She intended the swimwears to be made out of plain black textile so that each candidate will be judged equally.
SOLTI Activewear specializes in crafting versatile bodysuits that are handmade in Cebu City and are made out of upcycled textiles from large manufacturers.
The swimsuit competition was one of the three pre-pageant events on the lead up to the coronation night which forms 25 percent of the total criteria for judging to determine the top 20 contingents.
Other criteria for judging include the Philippine terno competition, (20 percent), evening gown competition (25 percent), preliminary interview (20 percent), and organizers (10 percent).
Catch the Binibining Cebu 2017 candidates during the Femme Fatale: Evening Gown Competition on Oct. 4, Wednesday, 6pm at the Centerstage of SM Seaside City Cebu.
The grand coronation night will be on Oct. 28 at the Pacific Ballroom of Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino.
