Finely Crafted Jewelry, Intricate Textiles, and More Artisan Goods in `Balanghai’ at the Ayala Center Cebu on Sept 22-24
Creations by skilled artisans from all over the country will highlight a cultural, retail event held at the Ayala Center Cebu on Sept 22-24.
The Balanghai event gathers some of the best products and exhibitors known for their fine craftsmanship, a display of a rich tapestry of Philippine artistry, and the stories behind these.
Balanghai refers to the first wooden watercraft unearthed in Southeast Asia. It is a demonstration of early Filipino craftsmanship and their seamanship skills during the pre-colonial period.
The products range from intricate woven textiles to meticulously crafted jewelry, evoking a deeper appreciation for traditional craftsmanship.
Balanghai also considers itself an experiential platform for Philippine brands to showcase their unique work to the Cebu market and spur dialog among the academe, private sector, and public sector on promoting craft tourism.
Apart from showcasing artisan products, the event also features a vibrant exhibition, interactive workshop, and insightful panel discussions where key personalities talk about the business and sustainability of crafts.
Featured exhibitors include Adante Leyesa and Edited Limited, Balay ni Atong, Atoa by Cheeky Chic, Capricho Bags, Felip+inna, Kevin Morales, Jill Lao, Natalya Lagdameo, Shepard Lifestyles Goods, Tagpi, and Strozzi.
Curated by noted designer Neil Felipp San Pedro, known for his elegantly designed minaudieres and accessories, the exhibit will surely draw raves.
Proceeds of the cultural retail event will go to the Himu Foundation to benefit the artisanal communities of Cebu.
