Want to be part of solving plastic pollution issues?
Be part of the Plastic-Free July challenge to help restore the beauty of our nature.
Did you know the Philippines generates around 2.7 million tons of plastic annually? Most likely, you were aware of this but didn't bother to understand the consequences.
The Plastic-Free Foundation leads the Plastic-Free July movement, which aims to reduce plastic waste pollution and promote sustainable alternatives to single-use plastic. The large amounts of plastic waste take up valuable land space and disrupt the beauty of our environment. Take note that plastics take nearly 20 to 500 years to decompose. Plastic is the leading cause of pollution in the world, and it has negatively impacted our environment, health, and livelihoods.
Our fishing communities are experiencing diminished catches due to the increase of plastic in the ocean, which also has a detrimental impact on the ecosystem and marine life.
However, you don't need to wait until the situation worsens. The transition to a plastic-free lifestyle begins in our homes.
Here are some simple ways to make using less plastic a habit: Use reusable items, such as bottles, bags, containers, and utensils.
You may wonder, "How can this simple action be beneficial?" Imagine how much plastic we use daily, and there are millions of us. We can decrease the amount of plastic we use daily by implementing this simple yet impactful way to reduce plastic consumption at home.
Recycle properly. Recycle the plastics that you have used following the local guidelines. Proper disposal of plastic waste is essential to prevent it from polluting the environment and winding up in landfills. Proper disposal will help us reduce the environmental impact and contribute to a cleaner, greener environment.
Participating in clean-up activities and keeping our community clean is a positive way to safeguard our environment against pollution. It contributes to developing a more sustainable and environmentally friendly world by raising awareness about the importance of reducing plastic pollution and improving our planet's well-being.
Even though plastic is everywhere, we can reduce its use by changing our habits and mindset. Thus, we challenge you to limit your use of single-use plastics from July 1st to the end of the month. This challenge takes collective efforts and small steps to create a long-term difference.
What steps are you taking to cut down on plastic waste?
Let's work together for a cleaner, greener future!
