con
dis sometimes void ur warranty
not all brand can handle OC so ur hardware might crash

how can overclocking save money? In fact in order to have a stable overclock you have to spend a lot of money for the cpu's temp, cooling system, good set or memory and etc.

making ur proc. power same to an expensive cpu performance
ull just spend a decent cooler around $40

instead of getting a 3Ghz for example, you can get a lower speed CPU and OC it ot 3GHz or more. A little amount of upgrade on cooling would be worth it than spending on high price CPU.

but the coolers are not cheap, especially the proc coolers,video card coolers,kung water cooling samot. then the price difference for example of a 2.8 prescott to a 3.0 is not that big. mas mahal pa ang cooler, fans,thermal compund,electric bill,void pa ang warranty o n some parts,then risk of damaging the hardware.

i agree.....thats the risk of OC....but sooner or later parts warranty will expire and not knowing how much you can juice-up your rig is a sorry thing. Some people i know in one way or another OC(non permanent) and saw the diff. bet. stock and OC. Cooling is one problem when OC.....but again with a little bit of ingenuity(modding) you can get away with a not so expensive cooling solution.

I beg to disagree on the coolers not being cheap. Like joelkyr said, ingenuity in modding is the key.
