why did you use parition magic?
same case here, same error. solution is the reinstall/repair your windows installation.
but how can u install windows if ur dvd is not functioning. got to find another way to install. one is to pull out ur HDD and format/install it externally.

it seems ur OS got broken. go to the bios setup and change ur boot sequence to boot cdrom first. u said ur drive was working before, so it should be detected anyhow during boot up. check ur bios settings. the goal here is to repair/ re-install ur OS using the installer disc.

how can that be ok? u can install windows 'externally' from ur intended comp to use? it doesn't work that way coz the OS installation has to detect ur hardware and configure with it.
