Oh thanks for asking... uhm.... manghod? HAHAH!

BTW, the Political Science program of the University of San Carlos offers FOUR specialized track majors: Political Theory & Systems, International Relations & Foreign Service, Law & Policy Studies, Public Management & Development. I'll try to enlighten you in more detail about each of these tracks but I can only do so much since I am confined to only one of these tracks.

    1. Political Theory & Systems --- This track is the foundation of all the four tracks in political science. The course itself after all founded its roots in political philosophy (Plato, Aristotle, St. Thomas Aquinas etc,). In this track you will specialize in the study of a) POLITICAL PHILOSOPHY and; b) POLITICAL SYSTEMS. You will be taken deep into the founding theories of political science; from the beginnings of the state and even to the diversity of political systems in the world today.

    2. International Relations & Foreign Service --- This track is, along with Political Theory & Systems one of the most theory-intensive tracks among the four. Here you'll deal with world politics, diplomatic relations between states, diplomacy, international relations theories, etc. They say this track is quite off from the others because it only deals with politics on the global arena but always remember that whatever happens abroad will have strong effects to whatever happens inside our country. You will learn so much especially with how to deal with international disputes (Spratly's, Scarborough Shoal & Sabah). This track also prepares you for the Foreign Service Examinations and onto your destiny as a diplomat representing our country abroad via embassies & consulates. Piece of advice though, this track is quite expensive since it has more of the 'glitz & glam' in it especially because of a tradition for wearing corporate attire and other formalities that might seem fancy to others but is actually, a very important and unique aspect of this track.

    3. Law & Policy Studies --- Want to feel the rigor of LAW SCHOOL in undergraduate studies? Here's the track for you. You will study not only the complexities of law but even deep into the political philosophy of law. This track will also enlighten you about the practice of crafting policies especially on the part of the government. Beginning second year in this track, you will begin to study various (even so many) cases everyday and studying Supreme Court rulings about the most controversial cases of our time. You have to be quick, witty and snappy when you want to pursue this specialization; this is Law as a sub-field of political science. This is a very interesting specialization I dare say and indeed a good one.

    4. Public Management & Development --- This track centers on the science of public governance. Here we build the future government officials of our country. You will be introduced to the hierarchical structure of the Philippine government as mandated by the 1987 Constitution. You will be acquainted to the main branches of the Philippine government, their respective powers and limitations; even the political philosophy behind the government of the Philippines. Concepts from this track are more contextualized because it is closer to the practice of politics in the Philippines than are the other three tracks. If public service and good governance is your niche, this a good choice for you.

That is all the introductory information I can give you. You can also ask other Pol-Scis from USC here if you'd like more information. I can only give so much because I have not really delved deep into the three other tracks except for one of them.

P.S. Don't be afraid to ask me questions, I am ready to answer them in the best I can. By the way, I specialize in INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS & FOREIGN SERVICE and so in this track I can give you more details. As to why I chose this track, hhmmm, that's quite a story. I started political science freshmen as a law and policy studies major, then I decided to shift to IRFS in the second semester of my first year. I really love world politics and IR theories. I wanted to study the international system because for me it was more interesting. I wanted to ask more onto how world politics work among nations and even non-state actors.
