there is actually no best university.. what is best most is you as a student and how you will finish your schooling.. there are so many student who enrolled in a best university but the question is... do they have this interest to finish their studies?

many would be bias to choose their alma mater, but if we are to see the bigger picture or look at the forest than a tree hence not being parochial, shallow or locally fixed, we can rationally choose the best university/ies locally vis-a-vis the best nationwide, asian region and globally.
Based on international standards and asian QS rating there are only 4 universities in the Phils. w/c are in top 200 universities in asia- pacific region w/c are as follows :
1. UP system particularly Diliman, Los banos, Manila
2. Ateneo de Manila Univ. Loyola, Quezon City
3. De La Salle Univ. Taft Ave. Manila
4. Univ. of Sto. Tomas. Espana Manila
Thus all are in Metro Manila, capital region hence expected.
But there also excellent universities in the provincial cities in the Phils that were ranked from 200+ to 300 as follows :
Visayas & Mindanao :
5. Silliman Univ. Dumaguete City
6. Ateneo de Davao
7. Univ. of San Carlos Cebu City
8. Xavier Univ. Cagayan de Oro City
10. Mindanao State Univ Iligan Institute of Tech
While ranked 9th to 20th are universities from Luzon & metro manila, 9. St. Louis Univ. Baguio City
11. Angeles Foundation Univ. Angeles City
others are: Mapua, Adamson, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, Asian Institue of Mgmt, Univ of Asia & Pacific.

I personally doubt the ranking for top 11 to 20 coz we have equally excellent schools in Cebu such as USJR to be included in the top 20! considering the criteria includes CHED centers of excellence, centers of development, PRC board exam passing percentages, bar passsing percentages, PAASCU accreditation (only internationally recognized in Phils); quality of faculty ( %masters & doctorate holders); specialization of faculty & Research & Dev projects conducted & published; quality of students as to admission, retention policies, ratio of students to teacher preferably 20 or less, state of the art laboratories, libraries, research facilities, university infrastructure such as buildings, dormitories or campus housing for students, teachers, non teaching staff, sports, arts & cultural facilities such stadium, theaters, musuem, etc.
and international students, faculty exchange programs, students & faculty research. presentations in international conferences, exhibitions and journal publications.

at USC we normally advised students to seek counselling from the students affairs & guidance counselling service, most students lack interest to pursue their course coz of peer or parents influence in taking the course. others have poor study habits or indulge in vices, drugs, ganbling, parties, etc. unfortunately they will fail and be eliminated, we do stringent elimination process at USC as such teachers have perogative to flanked even half of the class if the student/s can not meet our standards. We don't check attendance as in high school coz we have daily short quizzes or problem/ case exercises, group reporting of journal or literature reviews assignments hence their absence will be noted, as well in laboratory classes students have to finish an experiment each session unless required to repeat hence overtime lab session on weekends. Finally we subject our students to difficult mid-term & final exams similar to the board exams or harder! before they can graduate they have to do research work either as thesis or project study individually for sciences & engineering programs w/c allow them to use our modern laboratories instruments, field research, samplng, hands on experiments and library research. We expect our graduates to exhibit good command of english, professional aptitude & confidence.

i'm pinoy canadian and proud product of BS ChE & Chem at USC way back 80's, i took masteral courses at UP, diploma in env. sci. in Tech Univ Berlin, Germany before migrating to Canada. I emulate our national hero who was a linguist thus speaks spanish, french, german, english, latin aside from his profession as physician! i learnt to speak german and french in europe as well in canada aside from english. In Canada i'm chartered chemist and worked as environmental quality analyst for utilities water & energy company in Ontario based in Toronto. I'm proud that of 220 techinal staff there are 35 pinoy canadians and only 3 of us from visayas & mindanao while 32 are from metro manila. All of us have masters degree outside canada but our bachelor science diplomas from Phil. universities. These are the schools highly recognized in Canada where my colleagues are alumni: UP, UST. Adamson, Mapua, and for the 3 of us from vismin are USC & Xavier U. We don't have colleague from Ateneo & La Salle they're in big banks working as financial analysts, auditors, etc. The school you studied counts in big global companies plus of course your marks or grades, post college diplomas, hands on experience and your soft skills; good english, french (canada bilingual system), most of all your personality!

cebuanos / bisayans in north america! i've been living in Ontario, Canada for 12 years hence i migrated. my relatives invite me to attend social gatherings of pinoys one of the most well attended is the cebuanoa/bisayans canadians fellowship which done usually early summer (2nd weekend of june). there are 3 major occasions pinoys in US-Canada celebrate; phil. independence day (june); fiesta filipinas with santacruzan (july) and christmas parties (december). with sunny skies, pinoys gather at the nathan's philip square, toronto city hall; the parliament hill at Ottawa, capital of Canada, and the richmond olympics park in vancouver, british columbia; the phils. embassy or consulate general officials join the 800+ thousand pinoys in canada celebrating the rich, colorful pinoy heritage and history during the annual phil. independence days with flag raising ceremonies in toronto, ottawa, vancouver where the Phil. flag graceful rise as the phil. heritage cultural band and choir plays / sings the lupang hinirang! after which the canadian officials greet the pinoys with their messages, the premier of ontario ; city mayors of toronto, vancouver and the minister of immigration & ethnic heritage/culture; and messages from phils. embassy /consul general officials; indeed the canadian mayors thanked the pinoys in canada for contributing to the great canadian communities as Ontario Premier Dalton Macguinty" said the filipino caregivers, nannies, nurses, paramedics are among the finest in the world, the Canadian families are thankful for you guys who took care of our elders and aging parents; our kids; the sick and weary in our hospitals, home for the aged, homes and communities!" after which is the festivals with lechon parade; the beauty pageants of binibing pilipinas canada; star studded shows of abs-cbn & gma networks; the highlight is the Gala night where the best of pinoy canadians professionals, businessmen, associations; are awarded.
