CAPTEK Dental CROWNS and BRIDGES :-) Wearing GOLD in your teeth but in a natural looking way!

*Captek™ *was developed by a Prosthodontist and a world class dental technician to provide their patients with the optimal crowns and bridges. Now Captek™ is available worldwide for you to benefit your patients with.
*
Captek™ *is a unique metal gold composite coping for a PFM fixed partial denture. Resulting in esthetic, healthy, strong and long lasting crowns and bridges, you can successfully place in all cases, either natural teeth or implants.

"It’s the perfect material for restoring crowns and bridges.Image: http://www.adldev.com/ad/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/mcardle_1-200x125.jpg (http://www.adldev.com/ad/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/mcardle_1.jpg)
Captek is a composite metal, not an alloy. When used as a porcelain substrate, it virtually duplicates the optical properties of enamel’s underlying tooth structure. In my experience, with factors like lab technician skills and the quality of clinical records being equal, it may be easier to attain the highest level of esthetics using all-ceramics. But in the hands of superior ceramists like the Elite porcelain team at Arrowhead (http://www.arrowheaddental.com/), Captek can also achieve an ultimate vitality.
Captek’s strength, toughness, and masking ability make it applicable under more conditions than many of its metal-free counterparts. These conditions include occlusal loads, parafunctional habits, discolored tooth structure, and margin placement. Thus, Captek has become the mainstay of my crown and bridge practice since I first used it in early 2002."

It has several advantages actually...

1. Durable
2. More natural looking
3. Because of its GOLD metal backing, this type of crown or bridge has an anti-bacterial property which also eliminates the "blackening" of the gums which happens in patients who have PFM or Porcelain Fused to Metal crowns. (see image)

Why you should date a DENTIST! :-P

I just found this ONLINE and figured I should share this to you guys here!!!

IF your cute-and-single dentist asks you out for dinner next Friday, say yes. Floss before you go.
*Here are 15 reasons to date a dentist:*
1. Sweet kisses. Expect impeccable dental hygiene and fresh breath.
2. Dentists are smart. Smart is sexy.
3. Your parents will be impressed.
4. Not that money is everything…but most dentists make a great living.
5. Dentists work consistent, family-friendly hours. Unlike others in the medical field, most dentists have their evenings free.
6. Obvious perk: free checkups and immediate access to emergency dental work.
7. You’ll never be scared to visit the dentist again.
8. Because they often deal with anxiety-ridden patients, dentists are patient, reassuring and gentle.
9. Your significant other will look forward to date night. After a long day of talking to people with their mouths stuck wide open, chatting with someone who can move their jaw is a nice change of pace.
10. Dentistry is a noble profession: your date alleviates discomfort and make people’s lives better.
11. For the more ”adult-minded,” there are plenty of “drill” jokes to reference.
12. After spending the day in scrubs, your dentist date will “scrub up” well.
13. Not sure which toothpaste to buy? Your partner can help you make that decision, or even supply a free tube or two.
14. Dentists aren’t easily grossed out. After spending the day staring at infected gums and hygiene disasters, nothing you bring to the relationship health-wise will faze your date.
15. Dentists wash their hands – well. If you’re a germaphobe, a dentist is your dream date.
Tell us why else someone should date a dentist!

Dental Ed 101: To Caries and beyond---Starting them YOUNG!!!

In my, I don't know, maybe more than 10 years of being a dentist (if that includes my CLINIC DUTIES when I was still in college :-)), I have observed that many Filipino's are still faced with the #1 painful health problem we often times dread... TOOTH ACHE!

And the most common reason for having this dreaded disease is POOR ORAL HYGIENE! In short,

1. Dli mang TOOTHBRUSH.
2. Kung mang TOOTHBRUSH man gani, ahw kung mkahinumdum lang.
3. Mahilig mukaun ug FOOD (Alangan sad ug dli food diba? Hehhee :-)) Especially those which are rich in CARBOHYDRATES or simply put, SUGARY, SWEET & STARCHY foods.

Image: http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o275/angel_brey/DENTAL/W-02534LAMINATED_lg.jpg

As I have observed, the statement UP there really holds TRUE,

*"Good Dental Health Is A Family Affair!"*

In one of my brief encounters with my PEDO/PEDIATRIC (Child patients) who had a case of RAMPANT DENTAL CARIES on all TEMPORARY TEETH like this...

Image: http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o275/angel_brey/toothdecay.jpg

When I asked the GRANDMOTHER if the patient brushes her teeth regularly, the grandmother replied,

*"No doc! Even I don't really brush regularly!"*

And so there it is! From grandmother to grand daughter and who knows what the situation is with the parents of this kid.

And that is why I advice to all parents to START THEM YOUNG while you still can.

Here are some TIPS for all you PARENTS and soon-to-be parents out there.

*_ORAL HEALTH CARE_*
*_(For kids)

_*

* ü If your child is still bottle or breast fed, ALWAYS have a spare bottle beside them filled with WATER. After feeding, ALWAYS let your child drink WATER before going to sleep after bottle/breast feeding. That way, the “Sugar” contained in the milk would be washed away and dental caries are prevented.
* ü Start them BRUSHING as early as 6months old. This is the time when the FIRST TOOTH, which are the CENTRAL INCISORS, come out and erupt.
* ü With the use of a KIDDIE TOOTHBRUSH & TOOTHPASTE of their choice (Dora, Spongebob, Hello Kitty, Mickey Mouse etc.), place just a small amount on your child’s toothbrush. How small? Just a wipe on the bristles enough to cover them a little would be enough. This ensures you that whatever toothpaste your child may ingest in the process, it won’t be that bad enough to cause harm to the PERMANENT TOOTH underneath.

NOTE: To make it FUN for YOU and your child, do it TOGETHER in front of a MIRROR where your child can see YOU doing it. Children are “great imitators” and usually, they follow “by example,” and as a PARENT, we should be their EXAMPLE! And as we always tell our patients, ORAL HEALTH is a FAMILY MATTER. Your KIDS are a reflection of how your ORAL HEALTH is! If your kids have beautiful smiles, then you do too.

_*Common question #1*_
"When should I start taking my child to the DENTIST?"

Image: http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o275/angel_brey/DENTAL/vghfd.jpg

As soon as the TEMPORARY TEETH have already erupted, you can already start bringing them to the dentist just for exposure but it would be BEST to bring them when ALL TEMPORARY teeth have already erupted at approximately 22 to 33 months or roughly 1 year 2 months to 2 years 9 months of age! A routine ORAL PROPHYLAXIS or CLEANING can already be done to the Child to maintain their GOOD ORAL HEALTH provided that at home, they also practice brushing their teeth 2 to 3x a day!

*_Identifying Decay
_*(A quick guide for PARENTS)

A simple *_‘Lift the Lip’_* screening and referral tool is available to identify children (6months-5 years) with early signs of tooth decay.

Early signs of tooth decay are easy to identify as it usually starts in the outer surfaces of the top front teeth.

*Screening for tooth decay involves simply lifting the top lip and checking the outer surfaces of the top front teeth.
*
Evidence shows that if identified early, preventive measures (such as the application of fluoride) are successful in preventing the progress of decay.

White lines along the gum line
can be the beginning of tooth decay.

*More Advanced Decay
*Image: http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o275/angel_brey/Rampantcaries.jpg
Brown areas or decayed spots.
*Please refer for a dental visit.*

*_SUMMARY OF PREVENTION & CURE _*
*_(For Kids)_*

1. Oral Prophylaxis (Cleaning)
This should be routinely done every 6 months to prevent plaque and calcular build up on teeth and prevent caries too.
2. Pit & Fissure Sealant
These are applied on PREMOLARS & MOLARS just like tooth fillings. These are applied to prevent further decay on tooth.
3. Fluoride Treatment
Fluoride helps prevent tooth decay by making the tooth more resistant to acid attacks from plaque bacteria and sugars in the mouth. It also reverses early decay. In children under six years of age, fluoride becomes incorporated into the development of permanent teeth, making it difficult for acids to demineralize the teeth. Fluoride also helps speed remineralization as well as disrupts acid production in already erupted teeth of both children and adults.

NOTE: It is certainly important for infants and children between the ages of 6 months and 16 years to be exposed to fluoride. This is the timeframe during which the primary and permanent teeth come in.

You visited me in my dreams last night...I couldn't recognize your face but all it left me we're feelings...feelings of love and longing...

Image: http://i532.photobucket.com/albums/ee322/Marathongman/LOVEHERLEGS.png

For a moment there, I was dumbstruck coz I didn't know you...not a clue of who you are...just a silhouette I just couldn't put my finger on and a feeling of some sort of emptiness inside that lingered in that moment... "I couldn't recognize you!" That was what bugged me from the start but then you came close and right away in that instant it was as if I knew you...a memory I must have erased or a memory I wanted to forget...and in that moment, all I ever uttered to you was "I'm sorry (for forgetting you)." The reason so, I could not remember...

You forgave and took me in your arms with tears flowing through my eyes though I didn't really know why I felt that way...All I knew in that moment was that familiar feeling of being with someone I love...someone I long for...and someone I trusted my soul to...I guess that was you...and in that moment I was holding you, I knew deep inside that I felt safe, I felt whole knowing I was with you...someone I love...

Image: http://i1089.photobucket.com/albums/i343/bbpontoons/Love-lovers.jpg

But like all dreams, it all comes to an end..to a halt...where you open your eyes and the love you had was gone in a blink of an eye and that no matter how much I wanna stay in that slumber, in that perfect moment with you, I couldn't go back anymore no matter how hard I try...

All I have left now are questions...Was that just a dream or a resonance of a soul who also longs for the love I have to offer? Was that someone I know or once knew or maybe that someone truly meant for me who in some way is trying to reach me through my dreams?

Whatever or whoever that was, I know deep inside my heart, I loved the feeling it left me even if it was just for one short moment...one short moment when I knew I had someone who loved me and made me feel whole...

Until I see you again in my dreams my dear prince...I shall await for you in every moment I slumber and in my waking hours, I shall but find you maybe someday and somehow already clearly put a face on that silhouette that I can only remember...

testing testing 1,2,3

Sorry coz I really dunno how to do this blogging thing! The keys seem to have left me dumb as of of the moment therefore, still learning! ehheheeh But anyway, let me leave you guys with something to READ!

My Aunt shared to me this letter when I was still in High school and up until now, I still have memorized it by heart because of its contents! Something I wish someone would be able to send me and bare out his soul from the bottom of his heart! So without further ado, here it goes and ENJOY!

Dear someone,

Whoever you are, wherever you are, I wanted these words to reach you, even if I have whispered them to the breeze that will accidentally pass by your window tonight! I certainly envy the chair you sit on, the table you write on, the clothes you wear and even the pen that you clip on your shirt pocket...there always constantly touching you. While I who long for you so much could only be contented with my dreams, thoughts and imaginations of you.

If I could only be a bird and fly unto your shoulder and whisper "I love you." By doing so, I could ease this raging heart of mine. Is this love or madness that I feel? Could love be this powerful, bold and frank to overcome societies conviction for modesty? If this is love, I don't care as long as I love you!

A letter I once wrote...

I used to write a whole lot of letters to the ones I love and for years I have kept them! Rummaging through my big tin can of letters & diaries (Yes and I mean big Danish cookie tin box) through the years, I bumped into a letter I wrote for someone way back years or so ago and here it goes…something I just wanna share! Some parts, I credit it to a Youtube video I saw before but most of the words here are mostly mine! Enjoy! Ehhehe

Dear Someone,

Giving someone all your love is never an assurance that they’ll love you back…Some people are just not meant to be in your life, no matter how much you want them to be…

For a few times, I hugged & kissed you goodbye like it’s nothing…but deep inside my heart, all I wanted to do is cling on to you FOREVER!

I used to smile of the thought that in a way, YOU were mine and I was yours and the times we spent together both happy and sad would never end and we would always fight for it, for each other…Partners, just as we said before…I move, you move, we’re compatible, just as everybody else observed of you & me…

But now, I can’t even smile and say your name at the same time without tears flowing down my cheeks, heart slumped and broken…

As much as I LOVE YOU, I have to say Goodbye…Coz I know you would be happier if I let you go…

I’m sorry if I made you cry or hurt you in any way… I’m sorry if tears fell from your eyes…But know this that for every tear you shed, two fell from mine…

Missing you isn’t the hardest part…Knowing I once had you and we we’re happy in every little but sweet moments together is what breaks my heart…

I’ll never forget the times we once shared…And I’ll always remember how much you once cared for me telling me every day to drive safe going to school, to take my lunch already, to drive safe going home, to take my dinner already even if you knew I didn’t eat dinner anymore, to say goodnight and have a pleasant dream and most of all, though only for a couple of times, you told me you loved me…something I craved so much but you said that it would be better to tell someone you love them and mean it than saying it always but had no sense at all…And yes, I understood coz it does make sense but still I craved…

As of the moment, you may not understand what I am going through or how I am feeling or why I feel this way…But in time, some day, soon you will understand what loving someone means and is all about…

Now it’s over, it’s time to move on…
It’s never easy to see you turning back because the feeling is gone and I am no longer in your heart nor a part of your day…But I have to take the pain, that’s the least I can do for now, and cry all the way home coz I know it will never be the same again…The laughing, the crying, the supporting each other in every highs and lows and the love that was shared between us, I could never bring that back just as it was…
I know when you leave, when I leave, distance will keep us apart…But distance no matter how far, can’t change these feelings etched in my heart nor erase the memories I had of you which I wish I could erase to keep me from the pain I am feeling since the day you said good bye and left me all alone…

Just turn your head when you see me, I will understand…One day, I will be able to look you in the eye without feeling the pain I have caused you or the pain you have caused me…
I hope in time you will be happy as you call my name once again…

Happiness has already been too far for us…Right now, it’s even gone farther…But even if it’s near, I know it will be hard for us to get there since there never really was an US…Only YOU & ME!

I’m leaving you, letting you be since that is what you asked for and in my heart I am hoping that this will do you good…
I love you and always will…Still have but I have to let go now so goodbye…Take care always and know that I am just there somewhere down the road…
