Christmas Break

As usual, I've been so busy lately with some very important works that needed some of my attention to date. Apparently, I haven't really experienced the euphoria of having a nice Christmas break beside a warm fireplace taking a long sip of gourmet coffee with a good book taken from a pile near the big old grandfather clock everyone's thinking about. LOL.

In the realm of stories, books do provide an adequate amount of surreal entertainment while making sure that the environment you are reading at is being maintained at its original conditions, despite the fact that the page depicts some form of a tragic event. Ah, the comfort of relaxation of this scenario has long been my passion for living, yet until now, I haven't grasped the reality of this passion-- not while I maintain sanity in this noisy habitat.

Christmas is a special day to those who believe, an ordinary day to the non-believer, and a season of non-ethical greetings to the skeptical-minded people. Everything is just psychological and that is why I still keep an open-mind regarding the ethics of seasons. Giving of gifts is not inherent in the season of greetings nor the season of holidays is as important as life itself.

That being elaborated, where are the proper verbal accostings? My opinion? It would have been proper to say 'Happy Holidays' instead of ending a letter with the words 'Merry Christmas' on it. That way, acceptance of both character and belief systems has been opened to a macro perspective.

Well, well, well, at last I have posted some pictures in Cosplay Arts - Login (http://cosplayarts.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=facade&thread=52&page=1). My feet are just too tired and worn out from the event and there were just too many things to think and rethink about this event. It was probably a nice thing to have attended and cosplayed at the same time, but present influences have suggested otherwise-- no cosplaying and just watch perhaps..

I plan to spend the whole day tomorrow resting on a piece of soft cushion that has been prepared in my room. I wanted some time to relax and recharge since that event and probably people would have been looking through the pictures I have posted.

Awoooo~!

This is another fantastic event this year. Halloween, as usual, is the best time of the year to read a good horror book at a relaxed place in a corner of the bed.

I was planning to do some revisions in my room to make it feel more scary and goofy...:D:D:D

This year, there will be a second upcoming cosplay competition named the OtakuFest 02. And since I am very pleased with how things are going right now, there may be a great possibility that the Bleach Bankai Project will take place. I will be scheduling some rehearsals for our group and cosplayers for the video presentations and pictorials for the said event.

In the mean time, there is a nearing event, called the Archcon at Sacred Heart Jesuit, and this will prolly be a great opportunity to meet the other cosplayers around the vicinity. It is a time to share wonderful experiences about what cosplay has to do with the entertainment industry. This is a nice and harmless hobby (not like airsoft..:D).

YouTube - AirTap! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AbndgwfG22k)

I know for a fact that many aspiring guitarists whose main point is to create acoustics reverbering across the bounds of the human brain have lately been thinking of ways to improve their style and further increase the level they have with regards to their thinking skills. This public dilemma have turned most guitarists, nowadays, to shun themselves from the true perception of the thing they call music. Well, perhaps that's a given. Once in a blue moon, I presume, you have locked yourself up in a small space, reading slowly and comprehending the 'tabs' that were given to you by some individual whose hobby was one of your primary interests as of the moment. That small page has been handed to you without you even knowing about the main source of that medium. I bet that we are all aware that the current market has not been producing excellent quality lately, ever since the burst of software developments had landed to this era. THIS is one sole factor why music has become a widely misunderstood conceptual entity. I've known different notes and tones for quite a time and I've learned to adapt my sensations to several instruments that I used to play since my musical exposure in high school. I play by ear.

Lately, I've been wondering about a particular modern guy who just happened to surpass the temptation of blinding oneself from seeing the note construction in a particular perspective, which usually is the case whenever you'd try to create a specific pattern of notes, while thinking of a better way to deliver it. Erik Mongrain began to experiment with a technique known as lap tapping during a particular time when he wandered across the fretboard, not knowing what exactly he wanted to do with an old instrument he had been using for years now. All he had was ten fingers and a working head. He had to start his song from scratch.
To me, music isn't money. It's a form of communication.

The language of the soul.
-iczyes.

Its quite lucky for us to have these people as role models for further development. Well, try thinking about them, the pioneers. You might just realize that you are lucky enough to be here in this present time coz you have them as influences, while they didn't have one in their time.

Korea: An essay from a Korean

(Reprinted in its original, unabridged, unedited form since 2003)

FILIPINOS always complain about corruption in the Philippines. Do you really think the corruption is the problem of the Philippines? I do not think so. I strongly believe that the problem is the lack of love for the Philippines.

Let me first talk about my country, Korea. It might help you to understand my point. After the Korean War, South Korea was one of the poorest countries in the world. Koreans had to start from scratch because the country was destroyed completely during the war, and we had no natural resources.

Koreans used to talk about the Philippines, for Filipinos were very rich in Asia. We envied Filipinos. Koreans really wanted to be well off like Filipinos. Many Koreans died of famine. My father's brother died because of famine. Korean government was awfully corrupt -- and is still very corrupt beyond your imagination -- but Korea was able to develop dramatically because Koreans really did their best for the common good with their heart burning with patriotism. Koreans did not work just for themselves but also for their neighborhood and country. Education inspired young men with the spirit of patriotism.

Forty years ago, President Park took over the government to reform Korea. He tried to borrow money from other countries, but it was not possible to get a loan or attract a foreign investment because the economy of South Korea was so bad. Korea had only three factories. So, President Park sent many mine workers and nurses to Germany so they could send money to Korea to build a factory. They had to go through a horrible experience.

In 1964, President Park visited Germany to borrow money. Hundreds of Koreans in Germany came to the airport to welcome him and cried there as they saw the President Park. They asked him, "President, when can we be well off?" That was the only question everyone asked to him. President Park cried with them and promised them that Korea would be well off if everyone worked hard for Korea. The president of Germany got the strong impression on them and lent money to Korea. So, President Park was able to build many factories in Korea. He always asked Koreans to love their country from their heart.

Many Korean scientists and engineers in the US came back to Korea to help in developing the country because they wanted their country to be well off. Though they received very small salaries, they did their best for Korea. They always hoped that their children would live well off country.

My parents always brought me to the places where poor and physically handicapped people lived. They wanted me to understand their life and help them. I also worked for the Catholic Church when I was in the army. The only thing I learned from the Catholic Church was that we have to love our neighborhood. And I have loved my neighborhood.

Have you cried for the Philippines? I have cried for my country several times. I have also cried for the Philippines because of so many poor people.

I have been to the New Bilibid Prison. What made me sad in the prison were the prisoners who do not have any love for their country. They go to Mass and work for the church. They pray every day. However, they do not love the Philippines. I talked to two prisoners in the maximum-security compound, and both of them said that they would leave the Philippines right after they were released from the prison. They said they would start a new life in other countries and never come back to the Philippines.

Many Koreans have a great love for Korea so we can share our wealth with our neighborhood. The owners of factories and corporations distributed their profits to their employees fairly so that the employees could buy what they needed and saved money for the future and their children.

When I was in Korea, I had a very strong faith and wanted to be a priest. However, when I came to the Philippines, I completely lost my faith. I was very confused when I saw many unbelievable situations in the Philippines. Street kids always make me sad, and I saw them every day in the Philippines.

The Philippines is the only Catholic country in Asia, but there are too many people here. People go to church every Sunday to pray, but nothing has changed. My parents came to the Philippines last week and saw this situation. They told me that Korea was much poorer than the present Philippines when they were young. They are so sorry that there are so many beggars and street kids.

When we went to Pagsanjan, I forced my parents to take a boat because it would fun. However, they were not happy after taking the boat. They said they would take the boat again because they sympathized with the boatmen, who were very poor and had a small frame. Most of people just took a boat and enjoyed it. But my parents did not enjoy it because of love for the boatmen.

My mother who has been working for Catholic Church since I was very young told me that if we just went to Mass without changing ourselves, we are not Catholic in deed. Faith should come with action. She added that I have to love Filipinos and do good things for them because all of us are same and have received great love from God.

I want Filipinos to love their neighborhood and country as much as they love God so that the Philippines will be well off. I am sure that love is the keyword that Filipinos should remember. We cannot change the sinful structure at once; it should start from the person. Love must start in everybody on a small scale and have to grow. A lot of things happen if we open up to love.

Let's put away our prejudices and look at our worries with our new eyes. I discover that every person is worthy to be loved. Trust in love because it makes changes possible. Love changes you and me. It changes people, contexts and relationships. It changes the world.

Please love your neighborhood and country. Jesus Christ said that whatever we do to others we do to Him. In the Philippines, there is God for people who are abused and abandoned. There is God who is crying for love.

If you have children, teach them to love the Philippines. Teach them why they have to love their neighborhood and country. You know that God also will be very happy if you love others. That's all I really want to ask you Filipinos.

YouTube - Andy Mckee - Rylynn - Acoustic Guitar - www.candyrat.com (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JsD6uEZsIsU)

This song has inspired me many times, yet it is just one of my favorite songs that I haven't yet worked on until today. It required a partial capo to be placed on the 5th fret along strings 6, 5, 4, and 3. I had nowhere to find a partial capo until I went to ASALONGA music store this afternoon. It was priced at 350 pesos and I immediately took and paid for it.

Upon reaching home, I relaxed and undressed for a bit to release all the heat and tension that built up from the global warming. After a few more minutes of pure rest and cool, I started to get the guitar out of its black case and tested the new partial capo. To my dismay, it did not fit. Its was so tight that I had to hammer it down with a jack hammer. It broke. Oops...

I then did some nice modding on the device itself. Good thing it is now up and working, yet in favor to my needs. So I started playing the piece and will still be working on it in the next couple of days for my pasttime. Well, at least I'll have something to ponder and think about in the next couple of days.

So excited..

I just received an infraction today from a moderator. Oh my, it was a bit disappointing to read that message when I logged in to this account. I think I have to leave a note of reprimand to those cosplay members who have been posting in the sticky threads lately, particularly in the "What are you listening to right now" thread where the infraction was based upon. They should be informed about their misbehaviour and observe proper decorum the next time that they access this account.

Anyways, the expiry will still be on the eleventh of November this year and I hope that our members would care enough for this account's existence to observe manners to avoid any further infractions.

Ever wondered about my username? It comes from a mixture of two known self-explanatory words; "costume" and "roleplay". It's a coined word that originated from Nov Takahashi.

From the Japanese studio called Studio Hard, he coined the term cosplay – a contraction of the English-language words costume play – while attending the 1984 Los Angeles Science Fiction Worldcon. He was so impressed by the hall and masquerade costuming there that he reported about it frequently in Japanese science fiction magazines. This follows a common Japanese method of abbreviation: combining the first two moras of each word to form an independent compound. *Cos*tume becomes kosu (コス), and role*play* becomes pure (プレ).

Thus these became a widespread fad which is directed at anime and game characters and it has become a known hobby since then. It is a new way of displaying fashion in streets, more like "on-studio stage magic" upgraded to the mobile "in-your-face street magic".

The acoustic guitar does have its own upbeat music after all, thanks to a man named Andy. The music this guy offers is just as good as what I have been thinking long before. He knows exactly where the notes go for an emotion to just rip off your heart, similar to a technique called NLP or neurolinguistic programming. Just wondering of he ever knew Silva the Ultramind...

The violin is one instrument that pacifies my need for some romantic aura. It's one that I have always desired to have and play. I've longed to play at the top of my skills yet all of the efforts and research I have done really did little. In fact, even if you try to study the violin on your own, you won't find a lot of helpful things that may guide you along the course of mastering the art. There are just so many unobvious things that the violin contains and it doesn't seem to want to reveal all the techniques and skills in its own artistic manipulation.

I actually have one at home and it's been two years since I bought that thing from the premises of JB Music. Yep, I studied everything on my own and I didn't have any formal lessons. I noticed its been lying around for quite sometime now and I keep on checking on it frequently for any accumulated dust especially on the bridge part where it is the hardest to clean and the most sensitive part of the violin.

I have longed to have a companion who knows well about the craft, yet in my thorough (or so I call it) quest, I've found none. Perhaps you may have read a few threads that I started about violins, but it was such a lonely place out there. No one except my "ups" and "bumps" were populating the thread with life. Sadly, I have given up on those.

Oh my, when will I ever be able to meet one?

Music is the language of the soul. Only those who understand the way of the notes can create good music. Good music is good communication between minds. Wisdom is a prerequisite. There should be no lyrics in music as lyrics place boundaries of what the music could convey to nature. Without lyrics, there are no boundaries on the psyche. Those who compose for money are creating nonetheless, uninspired art. That is commonly called *noise*.
