A village called briza (part 3)

I don't know why developers are not being charged for criminal negligence?
Our village has a perimeter wall.
Our developer left a hole uncovered just outside the walls they constructed.
It was the hole that they excavated before they built that perimeter fence.
But they just left it open for years now.
Just last month, a dead body was found inside that hole by the wall.
It turned out that it was there for four months now.
The relatives of the old lady thought she just went missing all the time.
Had they covered that ground they excavated,
then no one should have fallen into it and died.
Who do you think is to be blamed?

I noticed that forum bullies are increasing in number.
They befriend moderators
and work their ways into banning forumers who they do not like.

They started by giving personal attacks on their threads.
The intentionally provoke this thread starter to go down to their level--
and when the thread starter answers back,
they report him for violation.
Its been their pattern for a long time. And they are increasing in number.

It getting sad in istorya.
You will notice these people.
Just read the last few posts on those closed threads you will know know who they are.

A village called Briza (part 2)

Its been years since briza was turned over to its homeowners by aboitizland.
But still the village officers wants to protect the interest of the developer,
rather than promoting the welfare of their homeowners.

They continued following unreasonable regulations placed by aboitizland on their so called covenant.
For example,
they want homeowners to place their TV antenna at the middle of your easement area
where it becomes an obstacle to the supposed passage way.
They do not allow you to place your antenna at your roof
where 90 percent of the countries population place their TV antenna.
They do not allo your antenna to be mounted by the fence.

It has to be in the middle of the easement area where it becomes a safety hazard.
With all the wires needed to support its vertical height, this antenna is placing children at risk of getting caught in those wires.
And it is now difficult to pass in that are because the TV pole is in the middle of the pathway.

But they insist in implementing this unreasonable regulation.
If you wont follow their rules, they will cut your water line.

I supported the group that sued these officers for harassment.
But it so sad that their lawyers made a mistake in filing the case in the court.
They should have filed it in the HLURB.
Then later if they are not satisfied with the HLURB ruling,
thats the time they should file it in the court.

So now, the homeowners are all disgusted with their officers.
On their last general meeting, only 15 homeowners attended out of 240.
And most of them friends of the officers.

But still they don't get it.
Or they just do not want to, because they have other agenda,
and the homeowners welfare was not one of them.

Why I'll never miss Marikina

The first time I was in Marikina was June 19, 2007.
I went there to promote Powerchess since I heard people there were very sports minded. It was just a side trip though. I planned to play Powerchess with GM Eugene Torre that time. We were scheduled to meet in the evening at the Richmonde hotel in Ortigas.
So I have time to visit Marikina that day. I took a jeepney from a terminal in Farmers Cubao to Marikina.

As soon as I got there I was really impressed.
It was clean as a church.
You could not find a piece of candy wrapper or ice water plastic in the road side.
No cigarette butts anywhere as you normally see everywhere else.
The first few minutes i wanted to live there when I get old.
I was hungry so I looked for a carenderia.
I ordered a pancit palabok.
The palabok was ordinay.
Not much spiciness, and no life in the flavor.

I noticed that people there were cold.
They do not greet each other even if you knew they knew each other.
Business were noticeably slow compared to other places like Cebu.

As I entered their sports center, I was amazed how big it is.
It was ten times as big as the Cebu City Sports Center in Abellana school.
Parents bring their children there. They all looked very competitive, children and parents. Still they are colder compared to Cebuanos.
I introduced powerchess there for an hour.

When I went out of the sports center, I meet a family walking towards me.
Though there were other people there too.
But this family caught my attention.
An older woman was laughing
and seems to be throwing a joke at a young couple and their child.
Suddenly the younger woman screamed at her mother, hit her in the forearm and started cursing her.
What was odd was that the crowd acted like it was natural.
I was the only one standing there watching while people just pass around them like nothing happened.
In my mind, I wonder if people there are that cold. So cold that they don't care what other people do as long as they are not violating their laws or city ordinances.

I was riding the jeep back for cubao when we passed a residence there where a helper was watering the plants with a water hose.
Soon a lady came out of the house and slap the poor girl in the face and scolded her for using the hose. Again, I noticed that the passengers are not reacting to the scene. They act like it was a normal thing to do-- slapping a helper.
It was then that I realized that I do not want to live in that place anymore.
I think people there are so preoccupied with cleaning their surroundings that they forget to be human.
The government there is very strict that they lost their hearts in the process.
I pity the people living there.

Now after Ondoy.
You could see that they do not help each other like Cebuanos do.
Its funny what nature did to the cleanest city in the country.

I still believe that relationships with other people is much more important than cleanliness.

The village called Briza (part 2)

The first year we lived here it was run by the Property Management Team of the Aboitizland.
Headed by Mr. Allan Alfon, who falsified documents
and claim that he is a homeowner so he can position himself as an officer of the village.

The first problem I encountered is with my water meter.

The Aboitizland property management team created a "one way" covenant with homeowner declaring that they can cut your water supply if you failed to follow their rules or failed to pay your monthly dues.

Our usual water bill is always around P400 a month.
Then, one month, the meter read high and we were billed P700 for the month.
I came to inform the administrator that there's a problem with the meter because I've been paying my water bill for 20 years and I never ever paid as high as P500. and there is no problem with leakage in my end of the water line.
The administrator Mr. Joel Sitchon ignored my observations and assure me that there is nothing wrong with my meter.

The next month I was billed P900plus!
So again I went to the administrator and complained but he assures me that all my excess bill will be refunded as soon as they find out that the meter is defective.

The following month the bill reached P1500 for the month.
Again my complains were pushed aside and insisted that I consumed my water as billed. It was frustrating to deal with the Aboitizland administrator because he is the most arrogant person they could find to be as administrator.

I studied the meter and experimented on it and found out what the defect was.
By the way, I'm a chemical engineer so I know how to diagnose technical problems like this. It turns out that when you open and turn the faucet off, the "star" that rotates in the center of the meter, does not stop rotating until a few seconds after. This creates an excess in the reading.
The following month the bill reached P2000 plus.

It infuriates me. I insisted that the meter was defective, still the administrator insisted that the reading was accurate and he said I actually consumed that amount of water. How do you deal with people like that?
So I took the cashier and their driver as witness and demonstrated a practical calibration test.
I took the present meter reading and wrote it down.
Then with a gallon container at hand I opened and closed the faucet (while the faucets in the rest of the house were all closed).
Repeated the process 20 times until the gallon container was full.
This gallon container should read 4liters, but it actually read 5.7 liters after the reading was subtracted with the original reading.

SO I was able to convince the cashier and her driver that the meter was defective. It was only this time the administrator replaced the meter.
But thats not the end of the story.
Because after one month where they replaced the meter with a good meter.
The bill went down to P400 again, they replaced my new meter with the defective old meter.

They thought that I would never notice if they just put back my old meter.
The order came from "Engr" Roger Pesole of aboitizland, but little did they know that I already anticipated their moves.
Previously, I painted the water meter so I could recognize it as soon as they place it back in my water line.

Ask yourself, what kind of people does things like that to you?
They did it at a time when my 7 year old daughter got hit by a habal-habal and was in the hospital. At a time when I was preoccupied with worries if my daughter would survive that accident.

The nerve of these people. I confronted the administrator with rage.
I said:
"Kung dili nimo tangtangon ang metro karon dayon,
Maglakaw ka nga naay metro nagtaop sa imong ulo!"
"Unsay sulod sa imong utok?"
"Basin kinahanglan na na tauran og metro ang imong utok?"

That's the time they replaced the meter with the new one.
And to think we are paying them P22,000 a month straight from our monthly dues.

After this incident,
I never stopped until these people were kicked out of the village.

At the first glance, our village looks like the ideal place to settle in.
It has a 24 hour a day security.
Spacious streets and fair looking houses.
To an outsider it is a beautiful place to live in.

But inside it feels that you are in another country run by a dictator.
There is no freedom for you as a homeowner,
or at least that's how they want to make you feel.

By they, I meant the BHAI (Briza Homeowner's Association Inc.) officers.
For years they rule the village with unreasonable regulations and penalties.
They were always indifferent to the homeowners needs.

It feels like you bought a house and yet they own it.
It's like renting a house yet paying for it in full.
Because you feel like a tenant to your own house.
Why? Because their rules has to be followed,
just like when you are renting a house or an apartment.

You can not do anything without the permission of the board of directors (as they call themselves).

To build a simple wall to cover you laundry area you need to ask their (BHAI officers) permission.
What for?
You already own the house right?
Why should you ask permission just for building a simple wall?
They would not allow any construction materials to enter the gate without permission from them.

To build a P1000-- budget wall you have to post a bond of P5,000 (or whatever they want to charge you) as construction bond.
This is outrageous!

And its always the same from one set of officers to another.
They made sure their "people" win the election every year.

So they remain in control of the village and its funds.
Ah the funds!
I know that's what they are after.
They feel if they can control the homeowners they can control their funds.

And speaking of funds, do you know how much we pay as monthly dues?
P550.00 a month or P5.00 per square meter of lot area.
A whooping P6,600 a year.
You pay it just for them to control you
and deprive you of your basic right as homeowners.

to be continued......

Look around for a very "religious" person and examine closely how he interacts with other fellows.
The person you see frequently in church is a different person when he or she gets home.

A woman you frequently see in church, she carries a rosary, prayer booklet in her pocket, and wears all the symbols that tells of her being a religious woman. But when she gets home- she turns into a monster- berating other people, shouting hurtful words to family members and house help. She labels other people with insulting adjectives and call them with harsh names and claims that every time she gets hurtful she is just telling things as they are.

A man who reads the bible at the pulpit is often the most judgmental person you will ever know. He accuses other people, who doesn't go to church as often as he does, as infidels, sinners, immoral, and lazy. And those who doesn't go to the same church he belongs to are fake prophets, faith healers, con men, devil worshipers, and ignorant people. He pretends to keep himself holy and celibate but secretly lusts on little boys or little girls. And some sexually harass church members and church volunteers.

A father who handles masses at their congregation and preaches about God and family, he goes home to another wife, he drinks himself to sleep and sometimes bails his son from prison for shooting someone from their neighborhood.

This is the reality! You probably know these people. You've probably heard them on the news.

So whats wrong with being religious?

1. Religious man become Judgmental.
When someone thinks that he is "religious" he considers himself to be close to God.
He becomes self-righteous.
He becomes perfect.
He will never make mistakes.
He thinks that God loves him more than the person next to him.
He considers his religion to be the right religion.
He considers his God as the right God. and others just wasted their time praying at the wrong God.
His belief is the right belief, and other beliefs -- are irrational, unbelievable, untrue, unfounded, unreasonable and inconsistent.
It is very easy for a "religious" man to judge other people.

2.A "religious" man becomes very materialistic.
"Religion is a function of a materialistic man".-from the book- SEAT OF THE SOUL.
They preach against illegal gambling and curse gambling lords but accept their (gambling lords') donations to their church.
They build themselves beautiful expensive and extravagant churches as "house of God". They wear gold watches, diamond studded rings, silk shirts, expensive shoes, and all the finest things in this world. They eat "lechon" for dinner and drink expensive wine.
They ask money for their church services.
They value your friendship or church membership according to the amount of your donation or the amount of work you contributed to the church.
They see a person according to his social and financial standing in the community.
They see rich people as being the ones blessed by God.
They praise tax-evaders for building them a new church.
They raise the hands of paying politicians during holy mass.

3.They see people outside their belief as the Enemy.
They target their hatred on the people outside their belief.
Muslims hate Jews(Afghanistan), Jews hate Muslims(Israel), Muslims hate Christians(Philippines), Catholics hate Protestants and Protestants hate Roman Catholics, everybody is at war with people of the other religion around the world. Everybody is killing everybody who are considered enemies of their faith.

4. Religious people rely on faith than science. They value faith more than reality.
A grandmother refused to go to see the doctor because she knew her faith is the only thing that will heal her. My grandfather, a member of Jesus Miracle Crusade (whose doctrine are against going to doctors for healing) died in the hospital because of heart attack, because he was upset when he was brought to the hospital without his permission- when he suffered a stroke. Even Pastor Almeda's wife and daughters died of simple illness.
All scientists were persecuted during the religious era.
Books about biology, human medicine, botany and even mathematics were ordered to be burned- for they are, as they say, works of the heretics.

5. They considered their God as having human-like characteristics.
"God is a jealous God!."
"God has a Son!"
"God must be praised!"
"God rested on the seventh day!"

So they start bribing God with offerings hoping that God will hear their prayers.
They start to bargain with God. "God if you just let me win the jackpot in Lotto I will go to church everyday for the rest of my life.

In the universal Reality- there is nothing that we humans can do that can affect God. What we do here in this world only affects our own soul.
For you came from God and you are part of God. Yet you are just a finite, microscopic part of God.

Relationship-wise.
How can you even have a "relationship" with God when you being "religious" can not even have a relationship with your sons and daughters, your parents, your sister, your brother, or your neighbor or your co-worker? When you can see them everyone, but you can't even see God!

Jesus himself was crucified by religious people.

Is the government our business competitor?

I just had this water refilling business in northern town cebu and I realized that our government made sure business man had a hard time in getting permits.

They said they have this one stop business permit processing, but its all B.S. believe me.

First they charge me of 2 years unpaid permit dues.
Actually I just bought the business July last year (2008.).
But the charged me for the unpaid business permit charges of the year 2007 and 2008.
When I ask the owner why their permits were unpaid.
He said he already paid a government employee who acted as fixers and processed his permit for him for a fee.
Sure he got his business plate.
But it turned out to be fake.

So I was forced to pay 3 years of business permit charges.

Then they asked if I had SSS contributions.
I have to enroll my workers for SSS contributions.
Ok, I went to SSS. One of my worker already have an SSS number so I have no problem with his SSS. They other worker has no SSS number yet.
So they asked me to get his birth certificate.
They specified an NSO copy.
The problem is, when I got the result from NSO they said this guy is not registered. So what will I do now? Thats problem number one.

Then the window officer said I have to submit a Deed of Assignment before I could be registered as employer of the two employees for the same business.
What? Deed of Assignment? The owner of the business is no longer here.
That is problem number 2.

Of course I have to register for philhealth. I did not bother yet, because I presumed they would ask for birth certificate again which one of my employee did not have.
That is problem number 3.

Then a guy from sanitation came to my station and charge me with Littering.
What? All we did was flush away the dirt that the village above us were throwing in our canals. The worst thing is they charge me with third offense.
We never had the first and second. Automatic, third offense dayon.
P1,500.00 multa. Problem number 4.

Now the DOH created a mandate that they do they water tests twice a month and they will do the testing. Private (ex. Aqualab) labs are not recognized anymore.
What?
Since when did the government have the manpower to handle this many tests?
Do they have the facilities to handle numbers of tests?
What really concerns me is the fact that the mayor himself is in the water business.
What if all of us fail their tests and only the mayors water will pass?
There is a similar situation in Southern part of Cebu where the mayor own this water business and no one else were given business permit for this type of business.
They already asked for lab test fee and got some sample but until now(2 month past) I did not got no lab results. This is what I was talking about. Is the government capable of doing all the lab tests with so many refilling stations around? Will my lab test be given on time for us to act if ever we have quality issues? This is problem no. 5.

Now the provincial engineers office visited my station and expressed that we did not have the required area for the refilling business.
What? The business already existed for 4 years, now they tell me that the business I bought did not have the required area?
What the hell is going on here?
In Japan, the smaller the space the better.
They even consider it a crime if you waste space.

The space is enough for us to deliver our service and then they come and say our area is not sufficient enough, when in fact, it is much bigger than the other refilling stations around. And they all are given approval and permits.
This is problem number 6.

Is the government supposed to help small businessmen like me?
Why are they giving me a hard time?
Its march already and I still have not my permit approved.
What kind of government we have here.
And to think I already paid more than P20,000 in permit charges alone.

I think they should thank us for providing employment for other people rather than give us a hard time. And I think politicians should not get involved in business when and where they have the power over the regulatory departments.

Today I have to fire my cook.

I took over this small carenderia business here in Cansolacion 4 months ago. With it i hire 2 previous workers of this carenderia. The owner said the business is not making money.

It was like a challenge to me. In my mind I thought I can do better.
So I bought everything in it, from tables to plates, including a refrigerator.
P20,000 but I know it was not worth really that. But I bought it anyway since I like the location. It has potentials since it is a few meters away from the merkado.

But four months has passed and I never really earned a profit from this business.
So I decided to stop the carenderia business. I have to fire the cook. She's probably 48 years old. And it saddens me to fire her since I know its very difficult to find a job at her age.

Ah the decisions we have to make.
