Reports: Rockets offer a max contract to Chris Bosh - Ultimate Rockets...
Rockets' offer too good for Bosh to pass up
CHICAGO -- Wedged between a 4-time MVP and an all-time great 2-guard, it is easy to understand why Chris Bosh is often deemed as the weakest link in the Miami Heat's Big 3 chain.
Consequently, Bosh is also the most under appreciated, getting less credit for arguably more sacrifices made.
But being in the background and basking only in the reflected glow of LeBron James' and Dwyane Wade's greatness never bothered the 6-foot-11 Bosh. He is, after all, a dedicated pro in pursuit of loyalties and championships.
Long before this free agency season turned into a maelstrom, Bosh had already quietly opted out of his existing contract with the Heat, one that would have paid him $42 million for two years.
The idea, of course, is to take a pay cut and give Miami the financial flexibility to add missing pieces that were painfully exposed following a brutal five-game loss to the vastly superior San Antonio Spurs in last month's NBA Finals.
Still, there is no question Bosh wants to stay in Miami. He said so time and time again.
But that was before the Houston Rockets came knocking with a four-year deal worth $88 million. At age 30, Bosh would be wise to open the door.
Houston's tender is a golden parachute, an offer he will never get elsewhere. If he remains in Miami, he will likely just receive a restructured deal worth around $80 to $90 million for five years, according to ESPN.
Now, that's a sweet deal. But my math says it ain't $22 million a year.
From a basketball standpoint, the Rockets are a terrific fit for Chris, who averaged 19.2 points and 8.7 rebounds throughout his decorated career.
Bosh took less shots In Miami and his wiry 235-pound frame took a lot of abuse guarding bigger centers such as Roy Hibbert, the 290-pound behemoth from Indiana.
Out there in Houston, where James Harden is always slashing and Dwight Howard is low-posting, Bosh can shoot mid-range jumpers all day, seven days a week. And with the muscle bound Howard patrolling the middle, Bosh can slide comfortably to the power forward slot.
If he leaves, will Miami fans sprinkle Bosh with pariah dust?
Yes, because there are always idiots out there who refuse to understand that a player's loyalty ultimately belongs to his family and what's best for them.
But the greater majority of Heat supporters will thank Bosh for the two titles he helped bring and wish him luck.
Unlike LeBron, who can be distant and forbidding, or Wade, who can be curt and dismissive, Bosh has always been friendly and welcoming. He will be loved wherever he goes.
After 11 years in the NBA, Chris Bosh, a Texas native, may be coming home to Houston.
Even Hollywood couldn't script a better ending.
With James opting for Cleveland, lipay na kaayo si Daryl Morey kay they can make a scary Big 3 of their own... Harden, D12 and Bosh! They must start by completing the Asik trade and moving Jeremy Lin aron naa pa sila'y gamayng chance ma-match ang kang Parsons nga offer sheet!!!
They were supposed to make the announcement after the July moratorium,
obviously daghan complications,
Morey has what, less than 48 hours to decide?
