to those who got interested in our bookclub in manila:

the group has evolved into a film viewing and discussion group. last month we watched "Travellers and Magicians" and this month "Departures". the bookclub will have to take a backseat for now.

Anyone here would like to start an iStorya READING CLUB thread ? We could talk and study specific legit classical literatures like by Jane Austen , Arthur Miller , Louisa May Alcott , and many others ... Has to be classical though - so no JK Rowling , Stephanie Meyer , and Suzanne Collins books .

Has anybody read the book Fahrenheit 451, a great book from Ray Bradbury. Ithink there is movie from the 60 or 70s, but it is better to read the book.

    1. no doubt on the writer's writing skills. humorous, witty, smooth.

    2. murag scripted man kaayu iyang "soul searching"? "planned" is the word. pleasure in italy, devotion in india, and balance (hence the man, the man!) in indonesia. i'm not sure if she learned her nuggets of wisdom along the way or those were already part of her script. didn't she get paid in advance by the publisher?

    3. the book is really a travelogue (promoting italy, india, and indonesia and not armenia, georgia, and the philippines) and to make it more interesting it has to have hollywood drama.

    4. speaking of drama, she really is a drama queen. for many searchers nga, her search was too glamorous to be realistic.

    5. many of us can't help being judgmental.

    6. the book has indeed nuggets of wisdom in it's pages so we just focus on those.

Hala karon pa ko kabantay ani. Thanks, Sol! I always wondered if the author has an affinity for the letter "i". India, Italy, Indonesia...
