Did AT&T give Kris Allen an advantage?

The New York Times reports that some Arkansas employees of American Idol sponsor AT&T may have helped Kris Allen fans vote during two viewing parties by showing them how to "power text" votes using AT&T demo phones.
In a statement released Tuesday, AT&T said, “In Arkansas, we were invited to attend the local watch parties organized by the community. A few local employees brought a small number of demo phones with them and provided texting tutorials to those who were interested.”
According to the Times, no similar demonstrations were offered to Adam Lambert supporters. Fox Broadcasting officials has declined to discuss the situation with the paper. There's no indication of whether or not those texts would have affected the outcome of the vote, or whether they were even counted: American Idol runs an on-screen statement at the end of each show saying that such block votes can be discounted.
Update: Here's the official statement, released Wednesday, from FremantleMedia North America, 19 Entertainment and FOX Broadcasting Company:

“FOX and the producers of AMERICAN IDOL are absolutely certain that the results of this competition are fair, accurate and verified. Kris Allen is, without a doubt, the American Idol. We have an independent third-party monitoring procedure in place to ensure the integrity of the voting process. In no way did any individuals unfairly influence the outcome of the competition.”

If Season 8 ended too quickly for you, you won't have to wait long for the Season 9 fun to start. American Idol starts its next audition rounds June 12-14 at Gillette Stadium near Boston.
Here's the schedule after Boston:
Atlanta, Georgia Dome (June 16-1
Los Angeles, Rose Bowl (June 28-30)
Orlando, Fla., Amway Arena (July 7-9)
Denver, Colo., INVESCO Field at Mile High (July 12-14)
Dates for Chicago and Dallas have yet to be announced.

Di lang ta makakita ani til January 2010. Pero for those who think they have what it takes to be The Next American Idol, adto mo. Aw, kung walay singing skills, at least be outrageous and catch the attention of the producers. At the very least you get to meet the judges.
