Just like to share this to you all here in Istorya
this article come from mykid234 (member of PACLAND) Brothers (and a few Sistahs), Here are my reflections for last Saturday. Feel free to add yours: 1) Pacman won a razor-thin decision that could have gone the other way. I think this is the first time that a Pinoy was favored in a decision in a championship (or a major) fight. Most of the time, pinoys lose even when they actually dominated the fight and really had to KO an opponent to secure a victory. I do not have to enumerate them because there have been so many, but if you press me for an example, Ponce deleon vs Penalosa is exhibit A, the scores were not even close. 2) JMM is no way over the hill. How he again survive another KD, which I think compared to the previous three, was more vicious, is only a testament to how prepared he was for this fight. 3) The Marquez brothers are the best brothers ever in the ring. Such heart, such talent. 4) Joe Chavez saved Pacman. He is the best cutman there is in the business. To put it in perspective, Pac only connected 5 punches in that round because of the blood, 5 punches!!! That is so unPacmanlike. He came back the next round totally undistracted of the cut. 5) Which made me wonder, (I know, this is not a reflection but a question but I just had to ask it), why on earth was Nacho the cutman too? So let's see, he is the trainer, the business manager and the cutman? Any of our brother Mexicans can answer this? 6) Sadly, Pacfans still need a lot of growing to do as boxing fans. The reactions here in Pacland against Nonito Donaire for scoring the way he did, which I believe as objectively as he could, is borderline criminal. Some even wishing that he lose against Hussein. And to think Nonito's score is just razor thin as well. 7) While it is true that Pacman got tagged so many times, I'd still say I noted an improvement in his defense. He, on so many occasions, blocked counter shots from Marquez with his arms/gloves by bringing them back close to his face after throwing a punch. There was also noted improvement in his balance, IMHO. 8 ) Manny is still at his best going forward. I think it has been established as his bread and butter. If he had to get hit, so be it because that is how he can be more effective. I still wonder though how this will work with naturally bigger fighters at 135. 9) I wish the post-fight conference had gone a different way. The whole Marquez camp, from JMM to Nacho to big mouth Quintana, were just such a disgrace. That really made JMM look bad. In contrast, Pac's humility only made him more appealing to fans and media alike. 10) This is the first time that we have so many world champions at same time (Condes, Donaire, Penalosa, Pacquiao, grrr I think I'm missing someone). Pinoy boxing has really progressed a giant leap forward in the last two years. There you have it folks!!! Please add your own and get this thread going!!! Mabuhay ang Pilipinas! |
