Roach will waive fee if Pacman loses to Oscar!

You know what, I talked to Michael Koncz and I told him, you know what if Manny doesn’t win this fight you can keep my money. You don’t have to pay me. That’s how sure I am,” said Roach. “The thing is some people tell me that I’m crazy, some people tell me that Manny’s too small, I don’t believe that. I honestly feel Manny can beat this guy.”

forget about the $$ for a second then. just trying to look at it from this perspective, Paq is a multiple weight titleholder holding the belt for several classes, he is in his prime and has no peer. to fight some man semi-retired, tho a legend in his own right (DLH) just doesnt make sense to me. i see people saying it's for prestige. I kind of disagree with that; if Paq beats him people will say "well, DLH was at the end of his career and has many business interests to keep himself busy. that he has lost a step or motivation". but if Paq loses, people will look at him and say "geez, you cant beat a semi-retired man whom has fought little the past few years. go back to those lower weight classes where you belong, you cant compete with the big boys" this is why I think Paq has a lot more to lose than to gain by winning.
tho I must admit DLH is no pushover. he isnt one of those boxers hanging on to the twilight of their careers seeking to make that last big paycheck and then run off into the sunset. he doesnt need the money. so he is doing this for some other reason ---- ie, he will come prepared and well-trained. should be a good one if they can get the paperwork finalized.

the projected $20M includes PPV guesstimates bro. still, $20M is a crazy amount of money for someone like Manny... considering where he is coming from and where he is supposed to go in the future. i think it is safe to say that NO ONE, NO BOXER OUT THERE, CAN GIVE HIM THAT SAME AMOUNT OF MONEY IN ONE SINGLE FIGHT IN THE FUTURE. Only ODLH, because he is ODLH.

bro, foremost to almost all boxers (if not all) is the money earnings.
Boxers are boxers because of the money that comes with it.
Boxing is their occupation, its their way of living.

pride, self or for country's pride, thats secondary.

Ironwood, good point. I mean, if someone is gonna give me $20 mil guaranteed to step in the ring and fight, I'd do it. I'd get knocked out in 10 seconds probably, but hey --- I'm RICH!!!!!

i'll worry about my pride and the fact that my nose is now on my forehead later.
