@ chad_tukes: what is an atheist's basis of right and wrong? In a religion, they have been taught on what is right or wrong. But I find it interesting how would an atheist parent teach his offspring on what is right or wrong. Or, is it possible that an atheist doesn't necessarily object the teachings of the surrounding religion, selectively accepting some principles while rejecting most and not acknowledging a Divine Being?

you don't need a religion to teach you what is right or wrong.

good and bad may have come from religion, but it is not dependent on it.

When it comes to bullshit, big-time, major league bullshit, you have to stand in awe of the all-time champion of false promises and exaggerated claims, religion. No contest. No contest. Religion. Religion easily has the greatest bullshit story ever told. Think about it. Religion has actually convinced people that there's an invisible man living in the sky who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever 'til the end of time!

But He loves you. He loves you, and He needs money! He always needs money! He's all-powerful, all-perfect, all-knowing, and all-wise, somehow just can't handle money! Religion takes in billions of dollars, they pay no taxes, and they always need a little more. Now, you talk about a good bullshit story. Holy Shit!

That is his only perspective and we all know it is HALFBAKED of what is MORALLY RIGHT . I pity him for being a NARROWMINDED person , otherwise ... if these are only for the PUBLICITY STINTS .... I am with him .

it was meant as a joke. George Carlin is a stand-up comedian. although i have to admit, that what he said is mostly true about religion, IMO.

well, that is partly sakto, i won't lie. but mostly because that's what i see in religion... and i'm not alone. a lot of people (such as George Carlin, although he meant that as a joke, but he's also an Atheist), view religion in this perspective.

In the bible, Its GOD's word that will teach us what is right or wrong.
And that words will be placed in our hearts.

Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

GOOD point that Man made rules and commandments should not earn respect or should not be welcomed.

So do you believe that there are GOD made rules and commandments?

do you believe that the rules and commandments in the bible is man made?

Peace!

Religion is just a label..whether you are a christian, muslim, hindu etc. But REAL RELIGION MEANS KNOWING YOUR REAL IDENTITY, ESSENCE, POSITION AND ROLE/FUNCTION IN LIFE.
