Whats ur views on Islam?

I grew up Catholic, went to catholic school, and I am still catholic.

Now that I work in the mid east, it made me open my eyes to Islam. Islam as I can see, is a very intense religion.Why do I say intense? when I see people from different countries, different status(from the super rich to the poorest of poor) come together to pray everyday, sunni muslims pray 5 times while shia pray 3 times, they run, and i mean literally run to pray to mosques.

Of my 30 years being a catholic, never have I seen such devotion and love to God. Kids as small as 3 yrs old(others still barely walk)go to prayer rooms and wait for thier islamic teacher to hear them preach about islam. Its amazing.

We back home would think thier women as baduy, coz they cover themselves, but when u try to understand why they do it, makes u think how beautiful it really is. They cover to protect and hide thier beauty from strange men bcoz thier beauty only belong to thier husband. They are only for thier husband. Nobody else. And that concept of allowing men to marry more than one is also to protect women. How? first of all, it is only allowed if u can support them. No favouritism. And only when ur wife cant give birth, old age, or ur termally ill. So ur husband wont have a mistress, he must marry her instead. If u will only open ur mind, u will appreciate islam.

Now, i just need to study more to love and devote myself to the religion.
It is simply amazing and most of all fulfilling.

For me, it just so happened that you have never seen that side(the zeal of) of the Catholics. It really depends on the people with regards to the cultural and geographical aspects that surrounds them, take for example some of the Muslims in Mindanao, are they that zealous about their faith? How bout here in Cebu, some Muslim are taking for granted their faith, well at least those that I know of.

It is really a matter of seeing a religion, in a right place and a right time. Take time to contemplate, what you have witness in that Muslim country, be it about social and religious rigidity of implementing them, is also possible in our Catholic community. All it takes is personal initiative, if it does not exist or following it, if it already does.

there's only a few things i don't like about islam..but i do consider it the most transparent religion in the universe...first off

i don't like their treatment to women..well i think that's changing now..
they're a very exclusive religion..but i think that's changing too
and third..if i were to convert into islam..praying 5 times a day or more..is a bit taxing for me..

but their seriousness and transparency is what i admire..unlike the other mainstream religion who's always keeping everyone in the dark.

I dont know. I doubt it. Do u really think its possible for Catholics to do that? in Cebu?
Being a catholic, I feel theres always something missing. It only feels like an obligation to come to church every sunday or pray the rosary. In Islam, theres this passion to praise God everyday.

I dont know but thats how I see it.

I must admit that part also I cannot understand. Muslims fight against other muslims bcoz of a small difference in thier beliefs. But I think these are the misguided ones.
Have u also heard about the radicals or extremists?They are promised 70 virgins if they bomb christians or wipe them in the face of the earth, or sumthin like that. Its stupid actually.
This is not Islam, these are muslims that were brainwashed. In Islam, killiing one innocent man is like killing an entire race or sumthin to that effect.

But as I mentioned I am still studying Islam.
I need to understand it more in order to embrace it.

Yes I am aware of that child thing also, I think this kind of stuff is already prohibited in civilized regions but of course, others cant keep track of the rest. It is said that they cant touch the child until it hits puberty..but who's to say what happens behind closed doors, ryt?
What can we do? We cant control everyone. Sick and twisted Pedophile men are always here to stay.
Even in our country it exists, mama, herself is pimpin her own child. And this is without marriage. Meaning, after that old man is done, another old man can use her.

hehehe think of the wars among Muslim tribes as a Catholic and a Christian denomination. Catholics and Christians would rather debate defending there religion than defending there faiths to the death.

as a Catholic, i admire some Muslims that are devout to their religion but at the same time keeps an open mind. Islam is a beautiful religion and so is Christianity. Islam can be very intense in its zeal and so is Christianity. if perhaps you're considering to convert to Islam, you must be ready to embrace its essence and system of dogma and beliefs. if it appeals to you, then, you may do so. or, you may not. the bottomline is that the choice is yours.

Well may I add about the intense part... Christians are commanded pray without ceasing... meaning whatever you do, whatever you think do it for the glory of God. Most Christians fail on this part.
