No.

When capacitors give in, the hardware monitor chip automatically shuts off the system by asserting a RESET signal to the processor and other micro-controller chips.

If the processor becomes busted, then that's a failure of the thermal sensing circuitry (if that board is provided with one). Some low-end boards are not equipped with this functionality.

On motherboards equipped with fail-safe thermal sensors, the processor automatically goes to SLEEP mode on overheat and so procesor damage is prevented.

Yes, it's possible nga dunay na-damage when you replaced the capacitors. This is a highly-technical operation and very tricky esp. if you're not experienced in doing it.

In my first attempts way back, I screwed up 3 of my own boards in the process. But as in everything we do in life, practice makes perfect!

Then after you have replaced the capacitors, you need technical expertise and equipment/diagnostics software to be able to QC/verify that you did it right, and that every component on the board is functioning properly (such as Low-level Processor tests, DMA tests, Interrupt Controller tests, RTC tests, CMOS Integrity tests, SM Bus tests, PCI Subsystem tests, etc.)

Lisod kon magmata-mata ta anang board repair, so dapat kumpleto ka sa gamit (test equipment and low-level diagnostics software).

Regarding replacing the PS/2 port, you can try and see if it solves your problem. No harm in doing it, as long as you make sure dili ma-damage ang ubang parts sa board.

But in my experience, PS/2 port problems are normally caused by BIOS-related issues. And if after re-programming your BIOS the problem is still there, there's not much you can do about it because the PS/2 port controller is integrated into the chipset in most cases.

halu sir ruel!

tnx again sir ruel, dont forget to pm f naa nka para p3 ha? ako ni gmiton ako old for linux!

Congrats for doing it yourself successfully! Sometimes, all you need is a brave heart and couple of advices.

For that other mobo with hang-up prob, mao nay gi-ingon nako nga dunay capacitor nga looking good externally (walay burot) pero tass na diay ang ESR. Kana, di na gyud na madala ug mata-mata bro.

Sometimes, this prob is caused by conflict in CMOS settings. So try clearing CMOS by moving the CMOS jumper while power is off, then ibalik ra dayon sa original position while power is still off.

If problem persists, you need a qualified serviceman na. But if you know how to flash the BIOS with a new image, that might solve the problem. But flashing is very risky unless you know how to recover your dead system kon ma failed upgrade. If not, that will render your system totally dead again.

Another possibility is corrupted memory module. Try replacing with a known good RAM.

Still another possibility is hinay ang tuyok sa processor fan or wala ba hinuon nituyok, or gamay ra ang imong heatsink mao nga mo-tagpilaw imong processor, hehe. Expermentohi lang bro before saying dili nimo makaya.
