Interest Check: TEKKEN 6 Console Tournament

BIG EDIT: Unfortunately this tourney proposal won't be materializing...sad. But I'll try my best to set up a booth for Tekken, among other fighting games for PS3 in the coming Otakufest. I just realized the time required to run even just a 16-man double elimination tourney, and I haven't settled for sponsors for providing some PS3's. With just a month left to prepare, I guess it's hard to make it. Oh well, maybe next time.

I'm pretty hype about Tekken 6 and fighters in general, and with the great turnout of playtime on last year's Otakufest on Tekken 5, I'd figure it'd be more fun if there was a tournament.

How do Cebuano's feel about a Tekken 6 tournament?

Here are some preliminary information should there be enough interest:

Entry Fee: 100 Php (no separate payment for entrance fee of Otakufest)
Console: PS3
Tournament Format:
Double Elimination
FT3 Rounds per Match for all games
FT2 Matches before Semis/Finals
FT3 Matches on Semis/Finals (Winners'/Losers'/Grand)
60 Seconds time limit on all Rounds
Switching:
Random stage on first round
Loser of the match can switch character, can select a new random stage
Winner has to stick
Controllers:
Bring your own controller or arcade stick.
In-game macros are allowed (stuff like 1+3, 2+4)
Hardware macros are NOT allowed (turbo, hardware macro button binding)

Otakufest is planned to be held on December 12, 2009.

If there's something I might have forgot in the rules, or if there's something unclear about them, let me know.

i'd play but i royaly suck in tekken :P

but you should get rid of the "In-game macros are allowed (stuff like 1+3, 2+4)" cause it'll give people who use a controller an advantage over the people who use sticks

it would be fair if we use ps3 controllers lang para fair sa tanan kay ps3 manjud kaha ato giduwaan para practice jud tanan ba and para fair sa tanan...kay if mangapil dire ang mga taga arcade gamers na maayo kau patay nata daan....so much better ps3 controller lang jud suggestion lang na naku ha....

I would think controller/pad preference will be ultimately in the players' choice. There are some players who plain play better on either. For stick players they'd have to buy relatively expensive sticks to get that genuine arcade feel (Sanwa) anyway. Naa ra na nila kung mopalit pa sila. Advantage pud sa pad kay macros so dili maglisod anang mga 1+2 or other button combinations.

This is a problem for me coz im using xbox 360 and using hori ex2 arcade stick. Naanad na rba ko arcade stick gmiton but anyways this is a good plan. Im all for it.

It's not just about the money... I would like to see a union of Tekken enthusiasts gathering and playing in a competitive environment. I myself would be willing to participate and I am just starting to learn Tekken! Para lingaw man gyud ni. Para pud mo-maayo ang mga players. Basin diay naay madiscover pud nga player nga pwede makasabay sa maayo. Unsay lingaw kung sige lang bati ang skill level?
