I really don't think Microsoft would do it anyway. I can definitely see them putting a Blu-Ray drive for the Xbox 720 (or whatever the next one will be called), but not on the current one. Coz even if they do release an external attachment or even change the current DVD drive for a Blu-Ray one on any new 360 sold, what's the point? It's a bit too late for that now. It will just be for playing movies right? (And even for that, they got it covered via streaming HD media at the moment anyway)
I just don't see them announcing something like:
"Starting on spring 2010, all new Xbox 360 games will now only be released on Blu-Ray. One of the first games to take advantage of this will be 'Halo Reach'. Now with over 25Gb worth of optical storage, Halo Reach's single player will sport a 4hr gameplay + 50 hours of worthless CGI cutscenes.
Current 360 owners with the old DVD drive, will have to purchase either the external attachment, or buy the updated 360 Blu-Ray console to continue to play the new games otherwise you're screwed.
Thanks for your support. Jump in."
