from the year 1984 up to 1995 maybe up to 1998 vhf radio is so sikat. lots of amateur radio association were formed like Cebu Amateur RAdio League (CARL), RESCUE Group. Canine Group, Special Emergency Amateur Rescue Channel (SEARCH), Cifya...etc. but when cellphone was introduced eveybody were gone.

before you can acquire/possess vhf radio you must be license as an amateur. you will take an exam from national telecommuncation commission.

    amateur frequency allowed is 146mhz.
