ang emphasis ani nga system is to allocate adequate time to tackle sa every subject matter..tungod sa kadghan karon og loads sa mga bata....taphaw ra ang pag discuss sa ubang subjects....mao ng unahon ang reading og writing kai mao man jud nai basic..awahi na ang science...

which precisely argues my point.

the entire duration of a today's class is more or less 5 hours, instead of the standard whole day of 8 hours. this is due to lack of advance planning/budgeting for classrooms to accommodate for a ballooning student population. the new schedule reduces each subject from the previous 45min to an hour, down to mere 30 minutes at present. add to that the burden of newly introduced subjects...

by placing more time and focusing on mere reading and writing classes and removing science subjects, DepEd essentially acknowledges that a mere 30-minute class is not enough for any effective teaching to happen.

but the point here is that this should not be a matter of what subject to prioritize, but how much time we allocate for each subject on an entire day's worth of classes. this should be the given that policy-making should not dismiss, but instead work for.

boss TK, mao nang taphaw na kaayo kay perting gamaya ra sa schools available compared sa mga students. mao bitaw naabot nang NIGHT HIGHSCHOOL kay kuwang ang schools.

i have the same rant for this: BUILD MORE SCHOOLS. The government have the money.

curiously, building more schools seems to have been delegated to the private sector through the "donations" from the charity foundations under the aegis of big businesses. i cannot count the number of times i have seen public education itself and actual schools become poster ads for brands and big media. at such an early age, we have allowed children to think that it is ok for education to be used this way to promote brand names and individual businesses.

the government's role makes me think of a non-committed parent allowing his/her kids to be used (and abused). simply repulsive.

but, if you look at this on the long term, those people in malacanyang is happy with this coz they are assured that the future generation would be stupid and they could easily manipulate them.

to expand on that thought, incidentally, this is not just the role of any particular person occupying malacanang, but the role of the ruling establishment. this is Antonio Gramsci's 'cultural hegemony'.
