Your kind of thinking is like that of dictators use to silence opposition. They claim to be stopping "disinformation", but the turth is that they just want to impose their opinion on everyone else. [B]That's what this idiotic bill is trying to do.

Aaawww, just more baseless ad hominem attacks from you -- but you provide no proof or logical arguments whatsoever. Just as expected.

As I have pointed out, to create new laws prohibiting some undefined "disinformation" against the Bill is a grave violation of free speech. It will restrict debate and the free flow of information. The proponents of the bill will use it to harass and silence dissent through fines and imprisonment. And even if the dissenters can later on prove their point later on, the damage to their businesses and persons will already have been done. This will effectively silence opposition.

Freedom of speech is such a basic right that it even allows the airing of opinions that are wrong. In case you haven't noticed, that is why libel and defamation laws put a heavy burden of proof on the one who is trying to restrict speech the one who is claiming to have been defamed). The requirements of proof are very strrict and difficult. The law is ont eh side of free speech.

But this idiotic bill reverses that. So much for freedom of speech. The idiots who put that provision in the bill haven't the faintest idea of the importance of freedom of speech.

This bill isn't about health. It is about COERCION.

It's time to kill this dangerous bill!

My statement is not baseless. It's just to rephrase your support for maliciously spreading disinformation. Maybe you should just stop whining about no definition of disinformation in the RH bill and look for yourself what "malicious" and "disinformation" are in a dictionary.

And you seriously oppose this bill because of human rights and freedom of speech? Is the Roman Catholic Church now championing human rights and freedom of speech? If you are indeed so concerned about these, why not put up a petition so we can repeal all censorship laws in the Philippines? We can then show porn flicks to the Filipino populace. This will invigorate and rejuvenate what you consider as an aging population. Surely will reverse that population aging trend you are so concerned about. Can we count on the church to convince their congregation to support freedom of speech and expression?

You obviously don't know much about law, do you? Dictionary definitions don't matter. What matters is how the law defines it. If it is not defined, then there is no guarantee that it will not be used in an overly broad manner, as has been done in the past.

In cased you haven't noticed, our current laws protect malicious speech against PERSONS. But this bill restricts speech against a LAW and one side of an issue. That has no real basis in jurisprudence or in the Constitution. Your silly reasoning is a slippery slope fallacy.

You cant seem to understand the difference between protecting persons and protecting an opinion. Neither do the dumb authors if this bill. That is why they are trying to stifle dissent.

Historically, dictators have used such broad, ill-defined laws to crack down on those who disagree with them. This bill's anti-freedom-of-speech provisdion -- section 21 (e) -- is designed to enable the government to do just that.

I also note that you have a penchant for disinformation yourself. You were proven to be quite wrong when you claimed that health workers consider the bill's provisions to be a "non-issue". I have shown proof that they DO object. And you could not refute it. Next time, do your homework.

    Here is an excerpt from:
The Filipino front in the culture wars
    http://www.mercatornet.com/articles/..._culture_wars/

The answer is, coercion. The contraceptive-driven fertility decline program of HB 5043 may be the most coercive ever designed outside China. It obliges the government to provide free contraceptive services and products; it establishes an “ideal” family size, setting the stage for a proposed two-child policy; it imposes a national s** education curriculum at fifth grade level. Couples would be denied a civil marriage license unless they present a “certificate of compliance” from a family planning office certifying that they have been adequately instructed in family planning and “responsible parenthood”.

If before, quota-driven programs have led to gross human rights violations, this time around this bill could easily penalize with fines and jail sentences workers who will be unable to meet their quota. Employers who refuse to provide reproductive health care services to their employees will likewise be subject to penalties. Worse, it curtails freedom of speech, since any person who dares to talk against the program will also be subject to jail sentence and fines.

This program turns the Philippines into a veritable police state with the government using police powers to interfere in the personal affairs of its citizens. It will surely drive a wedge between couples since a health worker must provide sterilization services even in the absence of spousal permission -- or incur a penalty; and likewise between parents and children, since the latter can have access to reproductive health services without parental consent. In a generation or two, the six years of value-free s** education the bill mandates for school children will surely create sexually active adolescents.
