mga bros sorry but karn lang jud ko nakalogin ug balik dri sa istorya & nakabantay ani nga thread.

i work for dell & am a DCSE(dell certified systems expert) for several systems so i'm going to offer some tips.

bsod's are caused mostly by 2 reasons:

1st reason kay bad driver or bad program w/c may be incompatible to your os(operating system). speaking of w/c, kani imo xp bro, did you do a clean install? clean install means installing xp from cd? as in you have to install the other drivers like your chipset driver, network driver, audio driver, video driver, etc. after you installed xp?

or was it copied from an imaged os, meaning, after nimo install, even from a cd, naa na tanan mga drivers daan?

2nd reason kay bad hardware. ang most common possible points of failure ani ky ram, hdd(hard disk drive) or even sometimes imo mobo(motherboard).

in order for you to check if hardware issue ni siya or software issue, here's a diagnostic you can do. this works for most dell laptops.

while naka off imo laptop, hold down the "Fn" or function button, usually naa ni sa bottom left side sa keyboard. while holding down the function button, press the power button then let go of the power button as well as function button altogether.

if sakto imo pagkabuhat ani, mo gawas daun na sa screen nimo "diagnostic boot selected." this usually lasts more or less 10 mins, depende sa size sa imo ram.

usually ang first i-test ani ky ang lcd, maglahi2x na ang colors sa lcd, if klaro ra gai ang colors, walay distortions like lines sa screen or any disturbance, ok ra imo lcd.

this lcd test is also one of the best ways to isolate video issues if ang point of failure is either the lcd or the video card, w/c is on you mobo.

then ang next ana w/c is almost always pinakadugay kay ang memory test. this is where you ram will be tested.

if makadungog ka ug beeps, please take note of the error code. usually ang pattern sa code ky for example lang 2000-0123 or 1000-0142, etc.

please post it here if naa ba gai error code mogawas. if ever mo ingon siya, no problems were detected, daku ang chance nga software issue ra jud ni siya.

naay CD ang dell para sa mga drivers. naa to usa ka driver nga wala naku ma install kai mag error. post lang ko balik diri unsa to nga driver. akong gibuhat nag download lang ko sa internet.

anyways nice if maginstall ka sa drivers nimo sa cd. i would really recommend you to keep all the cd's that cam together sa laptop ky basin maglisod na nya ka ug pangita ana if ever mawala na ang mga cd's.

but para maka install ka sa latest drivers for your vostro, adto ka sa Welcome to Dell Technical Support.

when you get on to the website, just choose any of the 3 options, maski home, small business or enterprise, it will still take you to the same place.

next up, click on downloads & drivers, then choose enter a tag. you will need to key the service tag. ang service tag kay naa sa ilawm sa laptop. 7 alphanumeric characters na siya.

this way, ma-filter sa website ang drivers specific for your laptop. please don't forget to check if sakto ba ang operating system sa category.

most common drivers ang amo dapat i-install are chipset, system or notebook software, network, wlan, audio & video driver. mao sd ni nga order paginstall sa drivers.

ako lang na obserbahan bro kai f long hour naku gamit (whole day) mag bsod cya. f about 3-4 hours lang gamit di mag bsod.

mao diay ni ang usa ka driver nga nag error while ako gi install from CD:

sa asa na nga driver gikan? if that's outside sa support nga website, there's a good chance incompatible na nga driver.

anyways just post it here lang unsa imo observation when jud siya exactly mag bsod & what programs you were running that time.

also unsa pud ang stop code nga mogawas kay basin maglahi-lahi og stop code niya bitaw..

sa CD mismo apil sa pagpalit naku sa dell laptop. anyway, ako ni obserbahan without opening the skype and the nod32 antivirus kai basin mao sad ni reason mag bsod.

last time man gud kato ako first laptop na toshiba, mag bsod cya f nod32 ako anti virus mao ako lang ilisan ug norton wala na mag bsod. ako lang gi disposed and dell ako gi ilis. here come naa nasad bsod problem. post lang ko diri sa update.

by the way, ubunto diay ang orig OS ani then ako pa reformat to vista then downgraded to XP SP2 (original CD).

moba.. wala mn kaha mag sige ug bsod sa vista?

ako pud suggestion lang sa anti virus bitaw kay ang gi use kay microsoft security essentials. much lighter ang ram consumption niya compared sa norton & so far, i have never had any issue with virus or spyware.

hinuon, i'm also using comodo internet suite(firewall lang), malwarebytes, & spoyt search & destroy. never had issues with latency unless it's a software issue jud like sa chrome nako where magsige ug crash ang iya shockwave. makasapot kau.

going back sa bsod nga topic, i-check pud daw sa bios ana niya sir then try to find the option to change the sata operation. i'm not exactly sure what the options are for your vostro pero you can change it to either ata, ahci, legacy or whatever option is nga present sa bios.

kay basin ang xp may require a different sata operation. i have seen & resolved bsod, lockup & latency issues by changing the sata operation sa bios.

sa vista walay ko ka try nag bsod. mag research sa ko unsaon pag check sa bios sir.

since wa man mahitabo sa vista or at least wa ka naka experience, there's a good chance nga software issue lang jud ni siya pero much better if maka run ka sa hardware diagnostic para sure lang bitaw.

there are several ways to get to bios or system setup. depende na sa brand sa computer. there are some where ang prompt is to keep tapping the F2 button some have F1 & some have the END button sa keyboard.

for Dell computers, F2 ang pag adto sa bios. usually, naa na sa drives or drive configuration then sata operation. basta tarunga lang pag read per entry didto, makitan ra na nimo.

if ever gai wala, then that may mean wala siya ana nga feature coz it will also depend man sa model sa laptop.

if ever gai wala, pwede man ka mag repair sa os using the cd. since xp mani siya, in order for you to repair os ang imo buhaton kay mura jud ka mag clean install sa xp.

diba ang 1st jud mogawas ana after windows xp is setting up kay press ENTER to install, press R for repair mana, then press ka ENTER, then press ka F8 for the end user license agreement or EULA.

then after ana, dapat naa naka sa page where the options are to press R for repair, then ESC to install a fresh copy, this is where you choose R for repair.

just wait until ma finish siya then whatever system file like mga dll or whatever pa na, dapat ma repair nana siya. this is where you start observing when jud mo happen ang bsod, IF ever mag bsod pa siya.

naa lang pud ko i-add about sa wireless driver, adto nlang pagdownload sa support site sa dell sa imo wireless driver kay updated version mana ang naa sa website.

in order for you to properly download the driver or any driver sa support site, kana bitaw igpress nimo sa download button sa right side, naa jud na mogawas nga window where it will let you choose to download the file via download manager or download via internet browser, please choose download via internet browser kay ang download manager yabag2x na panagsa.

much better jud ang download via internet browser.
