The time is now for Cebu to have a mass transit solution - i.e. BRT, MRT, LRT, etc.

Given the projected growth of the number of vehicles in Cebu in the next 5 to 10 years, almost double ang growth, yet even now our roads are almost saturated to a point nga maparehas na tas Manila. Nagkadaghan ang sakyanan (almost exponential ang growth), pero pareha ra gihapon kalapda atong mga kalsada, ang uban nangaguba na gani.

All boils down to two solutions -

    1) Limit the number of vehicles flying our roads - It would be difficult to curb private vehicle growth, but we could limit the public utility vehicle growth - such as taxis and jeepneys. The best solution is to phase out existing low volume public utility jeepney and replace them with high volume buses and trains - preferably through BRT or an MRT system. BRT and MRT entails a significant amount of investment, but given the exponential growth of vehicles, there is no better time than to start the project NOW.

    2) Improve the existing road infrastructure and management - Better urban planning, more roads, widen roads, designate bike zones, improve traffic management, designate clear bus/jeepney stops, etc. The proposed cebu trans-axial highway (a real superhighway no traffic light obstructions) that spans from Daan Bantayan to Santander is a good start, people/cargo from the north going south and vice-versa could by-pass Metro Cebu, hence de-clogging local traffic. Transfer of Cebu port from pier area to Cansaga Bay would lessen vehicular traffic (mostly cargo and container trucks) at the reclamation area, this is also to support ships docking at the narrowing Mactan channel. Lastly widen the Cebu-North coastal road as an alternative to the narrowing Central Highway.

    2. A policy to use a car when it reached a certain duration from the time you bought it ( 20 yrs lifespan ) (in Singapore its 10 yrs)
a Car aged more than 20 yrs will be scraped and are not allowed to run the streets whether its condition is same as a bnew car.

    3. 1 Family 1 car policy or 1 House 1 Car policy... doesnt matter how rich your Family are, you are only entitled to have 1 Car

    4. triple the price of Cars and its Registration.

    5. Improve Mass Transport like BRT/MRT/LRT and should have the lowest fair compared to Jeepneys lets say 50% less compared to Jeepneys and should be funded under the Gov.

    6. Kung naa natay Public Mass transpo like BRT/MRT/LRT,reduce the quantity of PUJ's/PUV's down to 50%.

    7. There should be a designated Jeepney/bus stop

    8. Most importantly, Motorist should observe strict traffic rules.

In that way mahapsay atong kadalanan, mulimpyo atong mga kalsada. I know daghan dili musugot ani ug daghan ang dili malipay.
but its "THE ONLY WAY" to solve a LONG-TERM PROBLEM. otherwise AGWANTAHA nalang ang traffic till the next few centuries

AGREE kaayo ko ani..mao ni gibuhat sa singapore. ma middle class ka o pobre, sakay ug train or bus. even ilang mga datu kaau naay times sakay pjud ug train/bus. kana patas tang tnan. ma limit ang mga skyanan ga dagan sa atng kalsada. iwas traffic. iwas pollution. hapsay kaayo ang dalan way mga jeep unya ang mga bus mohunong sa bus stop rajud. way ilugay sakay kay naay sched ilang bus nga gifollow. ug dka kaapas, after 5 minutes ang next nga bus.

need rajud nato nindot nga transport system to let car owners leave their cars at home.
di man jud nato pwede ingnon ang mga tao nga "ayaw pag gamit sa imong sakyanan" kay it's their right man pud to have it... we can't force them. so, mao rajud na, if nice ang systema lng unta, pero unsaon man gubot naman jud kaayo.

ug usa pa, daghan najud kaayo ang population diri sa cebu,. 1 out of 10 nga sakyanan sa kalsada kay puj, imagine if we have good public transport and people decide not to use cars, mas luag na siya.

mao jud na ako problema taga buntag. mata ko 6am, lakaw ko BEFORE 8am, almost 10 najud ko maabot sa trabahoan. di jud lalim ug di pud sakto nga taga adlaw nlng ning.ani.
