no amount of revisionism will be able to refute that Marcos' latter years of power was the beginning of the downward spiral. Though I hold that Marcos was on to something during his early years as a president. He definitely knew what he was doing, and if the Philippines had incorruptible leaders with minds like his, things would be different.

Cory should be praised ONLY for restoring "democracy". But she also restored status quo of what hindered the Philippines in the 50s: oligarchy disguised as protectionism and nationalism. Furthermore, she cemented it so that it is even more ingrained to the fiber of Philippine society than it has ever been before.

tl;dr-Marcos did the damage, Cory made it seemingly irreparable. plenty of blame to go around.

Martial Law was declared only in reaction to the CHAOS done by the Lopez's and the media, it needs to be done to bring order back. My parents told me that the time of Martial Law was the most peaceful time they've ever experienced.
