IMHO,

if you're not used speaking the english language while you were young (and i mean young as in 5,6,7 years old), it would be hard for you to twist that tongue right and develop it so you...

you're right.. i think the recording stuff would help if there is some basis to compare your speech to that of an "american accent".. my take---->listen, observe, listen, observe, listen, observe...
