I wanted to go to Shanghai, China, for this, but time and money doesn't permit it, so will just observe partiality here in Cebu.

Look at the animated image provided by the thread starter. It's enough to answer your question.

Ang mga tawo sa Japan kay sige na anticipate ani nga event, ilang mga malls daghan na kaayo display mga equipment to view this solar eclipse.

The North Iwo Jima island kay sige sad prepare para sa arrival sa mga tourist, kulangan daw ila water supply sa island for this event.

looking at the image. the time indicated in the upper right is in UTC
to convert that to Philippine time just add 8 hours to determine
what time to expect it.

Best place to observe this total solar eclipse is around Shanghai, China area (just make sure layo-layo ka sa city proper, kay grabe ang air pollution sa downtown Shanghai siguro, so might spoil the view). I'll post a series of images later, depicting a simulation of what the eclipse would look like from Shanghai and Cebu City, at several time frames.

The solar eclipse, as viewed from Cebu City, will not be spectacular...only about 1/4 of the sun will be covered by the moon...I doubt that the average person on the street will even notice it.

This is already MAX coverage.

However, at the exact same time (9:42 AM) in Shanghai, this is what they will see over there...

Images are snapshots from Stellarium ( Stellarium ).

Guys, please stick to the topic and don't meander off to anything related to occult phenomenon, as written in the rules of this subforum. Consider this your first warning.

Nope. Practically the same with the Cebu view. It's not a question of longitude, it's a question of latitude (Cebu and Maasin are roughly at the same latitude). Manila people, esp. Aparri (Cagayan Province) or Batanes people, will probably get 3/8th's worth, since their latitude is more northernly. Ergo, the closer you are to Shanghai, the more "bite" the moon will have on the sun.
