My preferred "money-making" language is Delphi, which is not much used by programmer in Cebu, in opposite to Manila.

OMG... Python is not included which play a big part in my everyday job, that cannot be handled by JAVA nor C++, in many different aspects. My personal advice is that before you read those article posted on the net. check the "DATE" before you will say "Wow JAVA RULES" or "Wow PHP IS IN DEMAND" or viewing those POLLS on the public posted in PHP forum would surely let the PHP wins. or JAVA forum would let JAVA wins... or advantages in ".NET TECHNOLOGY" posted in .NET forum or blog by a .NET users.

Try to research why GOOGLE use Python, or NASA, why their spacecraft engineers, scientist requires them to learn Python and quoted Python as "Just in time - solution!". Why NOKIA, SAMSUNG and other GIANT mobile technology is now begun or actually started python way back 2004. Try to google sometimes regarding Interviews of Guido, or joined mailing list and read some emails how those Giant company beg to find more Python developers to migrate the entire system written in JAVA, or PERL.

My job includes structural analysis, automatic drawings, 3D modelling, in our Offshore and Onshore shipbuilding and Rigs construction ranging from hull, piping, electrical, equipment to various mathematical computation down to purchasing, and admin works. how glad we are that we have this python who can work in MathCAD, AutoCAD, PDMS & Tribon altogether and provide various tools and analysis in a very minimum amount of time. Simple automation in our Excel file and integration of our ERP system which is also done in python made us not only to SAVE $$$ but just in time solution.TIME is GOLD in a fast-paced deadly driven environment.

Well, I don't have anything against those language anyway ^_^... In my personal opinion, If you are fresh starter in OOP of JAVA or C++ try python...as soon as you learn you will get more understanding of OOP in JAVA and C++.... weather you are in JAVA or C#.NET or purely C++, taking consideration to use python is worth coz it definitely works from Developer to Customers to FUTURE IMPROVEMENT.

OT: visit my blog sometimes about my work and python ^^

By the way, I voted C, C++ & JAVA.

cheers....

it is a language that controls only to specific software. like ActionScript in FLASH.

by the way, I forgot to post, thanks for the PM: hxxp://cuering.com/?p=41 or CLICK HERE an overview of how Python works, made by yours truly for benefit of students who want to learn or interested in python. I revised the site just for the sake of my brother and sister who still on their mid-year in IT school.

In early CS subjects, most people are taught that scripting and programming are different when in fact, a lot of languages that most people consider as scripting languages can be just as complex and just as capable as those made with languages that talk directly with bare metal. Consider Python, I have yet to see an application where Python isn't capable of being used from web frameworks such as Django or to full blown desktop applications.

C# is strong language, and we've been using it for some of our project, but I meet this multiple inheritance issues and using typedef which turns out to be our nightmare for couple of weeks. Managing some of the unmanage resources quite complicated. and I don't know if it can implement RAII... but in my previous experience, I found out some of our C# developers cannot manage fully. its like telling you to write a code and I do it for you... We keep arguing and pushing them to changed, not until some private consultants told us that we have to wrap it in C++ and we made to convince our clients QA. yet still cannot achieved to ZERO warnings during compile time...the issues is on the CLR which we are blinded by the lights of Microsoft... and so, they are happy to create 3-5 support team to answer if the phone rings... LOL!

Well, its an excellent language though...quite profitable on the market.
Ok...i voted for C# hehehehe

Default Result

This thread has been long. . . forgotten. But anyway, here is the poll result:

Duration: July 7, 2007 to August 27, 2008
Number of voters who participated: 105
Top 3
Rank #1: Java @ 19.27%
Rank #2: Visual Basic @ 14.68%
Rank #3: C++ @ 13.76%
Then . .
Rank #4: C @ 11.01%
Rank #5: C# and pHp @ 9.17% each
IMO, these Languages merely plays a great role in the digital world right now. Each choices depends on the users comfort, purpose/objective, and for what application. I don’t know if this is still relevant now a days. But I hope this helps. Thanks to those who participated.

MODs. . Puede na ni i-lock nga thread if no violent reaction. hehehe.
