You are so brilliant! While the People Powers actually happened in Manila it was supported by the entire country and the people who were ousted knew that. Moreover, are you even aware of the number of "probinsyanos" who are already based in manila because of school, work, business, etc. and comprises the Manila poplulace? ...and of course, where else would it happen? The central offices are there.

Don't tell us that we should be "that" thankful to Imperial Manila because it was a nationwide effort. Do you even have the idea of the "behind the scenes" of the People Power?

Moreover, it is only rightful that you clean your own garbage there [if ever you're really from manila] because the troubles of this nation brewed over there in the first place.

Next time think about your theories first before posting. hahaay... pagka na lang gyud!

Eh marami ding probinsyano ngayon dito eh!

However, the lack of foreign direct investment in oil and gas exploration and the use of the U.S. dollar as its currency has almost brought the country's economy to a standstill.

The situation has made some East Timorese recall better days when the country was still Indonesia's 27th province under president Soeharto.

"We understand that independence is this country's utmost achievement. But we can't deny the irony that our life now is harder than before independence," said Nicolai, a 27-year-old driver working for a car rental company.

He said with a salary of some US$80 per month, he could barely make ends meet considering his daily expenses of $3. Therefore, he has taken a side job at a small coffee processing plant.

"When we were still a part of Indonesia, we could afford to buy food although we didn't have decent jobs. But now, aside from being expensive, food supply is also limited -- especially in the remote areas," he said.
Do you not see the parallel? Singapore is run by wealthy Cantonese, Indian and European Businessmen.. lets wait to see what developes with East Timor in the coming years before declaring that Cebu is a different situation.

Yeah. So is the Mindanao (I am a proud Iliganon.).Â*

In that case, I have my Federal Republic of Mindanao passport readyÂ*. I can imagine now that I am an overseas worker without going outside Philippine Islands!

And oh, do I need working visa?

Tempest u from Davao? Curious lang me, the way you wrote tagalog its quite obvious you're not "originally from Manila".

Anyways back to the main issue. You see am a true blue Cebuano myself nga napadpad sa Manila. And tempest is right all the infrastructure development are here. Even this subdivision where I live in Makati, residential ha dili highway pero the roads are about a foot thick. In my whole 22 years in Cebu wla gyud ko kakita ug karsada nga ingon ana ka baga. Puro ra inispalto.... tsk tsk.

I think what we need lang is more autonomy in Cebu, meaning more power to handle its own finances instead of all of it going to the capital. So maybe federalism is the answer. Problem is federalism helps the rich provinces like Cebu kay daghan ug resources. Pero how about the rest of the country.

Pero total independence? Mura'g lisod pa na sa pagkakaron, considering the location of Cebu---natung-an baya na sya. Kung sya ra ang mahimong independent... Gi-libutan sya ug "hostile forces". You have to remember Singapore is in the tip of the Malaysian Peninsula. So basically ga atubang sya ug ocean.

Who knows really whats the future for this country. Basta all I know the Cebuanos and Cebu (maong don't break it up) will live on long after the Philippines as we know it is gone. We have a long and proud history that has long existed before the history of this country has begun.
