Visayas Republic? murag dili pa pwede, but not impossible...perhaps if there will be one person--definitely not a politician--who would rise up and take advantage of our people's 'hidden disdain' towards manila, it might happen

The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.

Yes, a Visayas Republic so we can crown the powerful few the Visayas Kings, Queen, Prince, and princesses. I wouldn't trust any of those damn politicians to dig a hole.

manila is so imperial! and corrupt

Several governors in the Visayas yesterday voiced their support to moves to amend the Constitution and to shift to a federal type of government.

The governors of Cebu, Iloilo, Negros Occidental, Antique and Biliran said the federal type of government would strengthen the provinces and help boost their economies.

Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia said she has always supported a federal type of government because running provinces would be more efficient and would hasten progress.

"We can stand alone as far as Cebu is concerned," said Garcia at the sidelines of a meeting of the Visayas Regional Development Committee here.

Antique Gov. Salvacion Zaldivar-Perez said a federal type of government would give more independence to the regions.

"A lot of our revenues go to Manila at present," she pointed out.

Perez dismissed criticisms that the moves to amend the Constitution is being done to extend the term of the President or to keep her in power.

"(The criticisms come from) people with malicious minds," said Perez.

Biliran Gov. Rogelio Espina said the federalism would also improve the economic situation of poor provinces and enhance collaboration on policies.

In separate phone interviews, Governors Niel Tupas Sr. of Iloilo and Isidro Zayco of Negros Occidental also backed the constitutional amendments and a federal type of government.

But Tupas said the amendments to the Constitution should be done through a Constitutional Convention (Con-con) and not through a Constitutional Assembly (Con-ass) to ensure that those amending the constitutional will not be influenced by "selfish interests."

But Capiz Gov. Victor Tanco said the timing of the Cha-cha being pushed by President Macapagal-Arroyo is suspicious.

"Why (is she supporting the move) only now? It might be serving another purpose," Tanco said in a telephone interview.

He said the move, which the President said will resolve the armed conflict in Mindanao, is being pushed because it is "convenient at this time," referring to the the recent eruption of hostilities between government troops and Moro rebels.

Tanco said anything is possible with the Cha-Cha including the changing or removal of term limits of the President and other officials.

and then what? Cebu-manila flights will take more time because it's now considered international? mag visa pa and everything? that's insane! The government should shape up first so that the people will follow suit. Leadership by example.

The ways of the past have not been a good help... new ideas should be heard out and make an action to it... to the thread starter... some people might say your just stupid, but sometimes stupidity has more sense than those opposed allegations....

whatever idea we have is good... as long as this is for the good of all... not selfish reasons... but whatever good idea placed... its better if all of us will take out our pride and act as ONE country... this is what we lack....

we should not divide, instead unite.

look for a solution to the problem now and not create another problem.

background check...
Philippines will be divided into Federal states, Administrative Regions will be federal states
Example Central Visayas Region will be another State lead by its governor not by their own president.
Each state will have its own set of State Laws and Law and order will be maintained by the Police.
However, naa ghapon nay Central (Federal) Goverment lead by the President, naa ghapon Supreme Court
naa ghapon Central Legislative branch, Military forces, mtm.

for reference check the US government structures.

And yes makatabang ni sa atng country kay
(1) Dli tanan budget sa Pilipinas padung lang Manila
(2) Makit.an ang katag sa mga local government officials ang dli tanang problema ibasol sa presidenti or central government. Less politicking.
(3) Maklaru ang mga corrupt na officials thru the performance of their town/city or province/state.

So ang kato mga politician dli ganahan ug Federalism kay nahadlok makit.an ang katag..

And the idea of creating 3 countries is hard.
(1) Own currency? asa man ni cla mangawat ug Gold reserves bih?
(2) Own military? possible ni cya but will they agree? it will just result to civil war.
(3) Mura ta ug North and SOuth korea ani, imng relatives naa sa pikas country then mag lisud ka ug visit.
(4) What will happen to businesses specially
- franchise ones like SM, jolibee.
- BPO's in IT and call centers?

DLi lalim maghimu ug country oi

:asensya na kay mura kog seryos nakatubag karn, hehehe.
:eace mga pips
