I've seen your video sa YOUTUBE about BRT. Kalapad anang roads sa BOGOTA e compare nimo sa Cebu areas. Even SRP is NO match sa BOGOTA roads.

some are just driving a one sided opinion.

kasagaran gyud batigol mga project sa govt usik2x lang kay wlay klaro nga plano from implementation upto maintenance pero not if mayor tommy is the one who initiates it! ka remember mo sauna nga bag o pa na mayor sa tommy, daghan au sign sa cebu city nga "your inconvenience today, it is for the betterment of tomorrow!" pag widening na nya naa pay north and south bus terminal ug ang only in the philippines nga traffic lights sa cebu city pero karon wla nalay klaro oplok na!

In all seriousness, Tomas does not have nearly as many serious scandals as all those mayors in Talisay, Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue (previously). He also does not have as many scandals as the governor, who more likely than not will be involved because this is a province-wide project. In addition, he has taken in BRT experts who are really passionate about BRT and would not like to see it fail. BRT is a novelty and has a lot of proponents who really care about it, including the ex-mayor of Bogota. LRT is an old tech that in some countries have been abandoned due to extremely high cost of maintenance. Imagine that in Sydney, which is a relatively much richer city than Cebu, they have ripped out their tram tracks because it was too expensive and limiting (trams are just versions of LRT, they are also light rail) and have switched to buses and Heavy Rail.

Let's face it LRT is nice but it will be saddled by extreme corruption. People saying lamppost scandal part II are not being hysterical. Given that many of the faces behind LRT are the same aswangs who pushed for lamppost.... well put 2 and 2 together and you get what? An LRT that will be partialy submerged under water? An LRT with leaking roofs? An LRT where the trains will derail and kill innocent people? Be careful what you wish for. LRT is nice, but the people behind it are crocodiles with limitless greed. Election time nasad!!!! Mao na gi-railroad gyud sa Lakas-Kampi ang "light railroad" hahahaha
You were talking about the old fashioned TSU TSU train in Sydney. Mao giguba to nila because it was old. It was like the ones in Metro Manila nga daghan mga eskwater sa kilid kilid sa train.

The LRT they are proposing is more likely the same what they have sa Bangkok or KL. In KL their monorail is nice and in Bangkok their Bangkok Train is one of the best in ASIA.

LRT is proven tested in time. Though KORAKOT ang tanan politiko that every project naa jud mabulsa ang mga AMAW but it is always good to have this kind of project instead mo adto ra ang kwarta sa ghost project like katong SUBMERGE lot in Balili.

But this project will be visible sa tanan and in case dili mao ang bohaton sa mga politiko eh di LETS KILL THEM ALL if we can hahahaha.

Tan awa si GWEN, ERAP, the MARCOSES, etc WHY are they still ALIVE? Nobody is killing them inspite of all the MONEY pocketed from the government.

^^ Well that's well and good, but I'd really rather not kill people. I think if we know who is behind the project and the cost of the project, and we know the possibility is high that corruption will result in either a badly implemented LRT or worse, a total failure in implementation, then we should not do it at all because as a poor country we can't risk gambling away what little money we have just so we can dream about riding a nice train within a few years.

I don't think anyone here is totally against LRT, in the sense that if the right people are behind it, and we were rich enough as a city to afford it, only a fool would be against LRT. But the fact of the matter is, these people can't be trusted. Maybe one day, we will have the right tandem of mayors, governor and congressmen who are not corrupt and who can be trusted to bring about LRT. When that day comes, then LRT should be implemented but in my view now is not the right time. You bring up Bangkok and KL, those are rich cities with relatively honest local governments. As far as I know, Monorail in KL is losing a lot of money and there is not a single monorail project in the world that has made any money to this date.

And by the way, I wasn't speaking of TSU trains, I was speaking of trams. I believe the TSU trains you speak of are not light rail, they are heavy rail suburban service that serves cities outside of Sydney. This type of service still exists in the form of City Rail as far as I know... in any case public transport in Sydney when I was living there was an absolute mess. The trains (like the LRT here) will not stop in most places within the city, so the commuters will still have to rely on transfers to buses anyway which often cannot time arrivals well to match arrival of trains leading to pissed off commuters and long travel times. I anticipate that the same will occur here, unless we are willing to keep jeepneys at the same volume they are now which pretty much means we will not experience any decline in traffic congestion as we all know jeepneys are the #1 culprits in congestion...
