Indeed, there are a lot of things which our air force need. I'd like to think the PAF is apprised of such. Hence, they always ask for appropriate funding to prepare for contingencies in case the need for it arises.
I do hope we can improve the equipments being used by the PAF with regard to our very own air force. Maybe one good thing about our military is that even though we lack modern equipments, our military is very much trained with combat training. At least, we have an edge on that. |

kung pound for pound, nobody beats the Israeli Air Force. They have lots of combat experience and they never lost to any of the Arab wars starting from the 60s. Kita ko sa Discovery Channel, na every year US and Israeli Pilots conduct war games. Daug Permi ang mga Israeli, Landslide pa. US Equipied man sad kau sila.
Back to the topic, during the 90s the PAF negotiated for a squadron or two of Israeli made Kfir Fighters. These Kfir fighters are upgraded models of the French Mirage Series. Sayang, barato ra unta and had combat track record pero wa jud nadayun. |

It is incorrect to say: a) equipments - this is already considered plural, so the correct way of stating this is "we lack modern equipment" b) aircrafts - even though this didn't appear in your post, a lot of people still commit this error. It should be stated like "we have aircraft" And there are other similar words that do not require "s" in the plural form, but I'll give you the chore of finding out what these other words are. Again, this is not meant to ridicule anyone, just a friendly reminder. I apologize in advance if you feel offended, but this is something I really didn't want to just let pass at this point. -RODION "You can only know where you're going, if you know where you've been." - James Burke / Jose Rizal |

OT :
Israeli Pilots are probably the best in the world . They are even the instructors of the elite " BLUE ANGELS of the US Navy and the THUNDERBIRDS of the US Airforce " . There is an old saying: 'For want of a nail, the horseshoe was lost. For want of a horseshoe, the steed was lost. For want of a steed, the message was not delivered. For want of message, the war was lost. |

Slightly OT, but somewhat related:
![]() This is Captain Monessa Cantucan. Youngest daughter of Ramons and Teody Catuncan of Mesquite, Texas. They are originally from the Philippines. She graduated in 2000 as a Valedictorian in a class of 693 in Mesquite High School. She was then accepted to the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) in Colorado Springs, that same year. While at USAFA, Monessa, aside from pursuing her desired career as part of the US Air Force, served as a Squadron Commander, a Division-1 tennis player, a Glider Instructor Pilot, and a member of the Glider Acrobatic Team, among other essential positions. In 2004, Monessa graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Astronautical Engineering from the USAFA. She now flies the F-16C "Viper" for the 34th Fighter Squadron at Hill Air Force Base in Salt Lake City, Utah. She and her squadron just recently came back from Iraq where they served and supported the Army Troops on the ground through a variety of close air support missions. Granted, she was born and raised in the U.S. But still, some of the folks I know who have the means to fly would rather fly for the United States (and die for the US) than our country... This is my friend Ruel... ![]() He was a member of our Philippine flight simulation forums, and was an AH-64 Apache attack chopper pilot based in Iraq. He sent us this photo right after they were forced to land their chopper after a bird strike (a bird strike is when a bird hits the aircraft fuselage or any part causing substantial damage ). Here he gleefully shows us the piece of plexiglass that got shattered as the bird hit slammed hard onto his forward top canopy. The bird was a mess, I won't show the photos here. A week after this photo was taken, Ruel and his RWO were shot down and killed near northern Baghdad after receiving heavy anti-aircraft fire from Iraqi militia. Here is an article about his burial in the Philippines (originally from Hawaii, he was going to get married when he came back to his roots, in the Philippines after this tour...his fiancee was shattered). Honor the fallen: Army Chief Warrant Officer 2 Ruel M. Garcia Each time I encounter threads on issues like "our Philippine air force is a mess" in message boards such as iStorya, it makes my mind drift back to the times when Ruel was still alive and often wonder how he'd comment if I asked him what he thought about the status of our own air force, and if it was still worth it to fly for our own country, instead of another country. -RODION "You can only know where you're going, if you know where you've been." - James Burke / Jose Rizal
