hehehe i agree with you bro.

some of you here are have very good suggestions but it's not as easy as making a list of toys you want for xmas when it comes to buying military hardware.

there are more things to consider than just buying combat aircraft.if you can buy one it doesn't always mean you can keep it flying.(operational cost) aside from that will the country of origin is willing to sell you their hardware as well as the technology packed with it (US and other countries puts a lot of restrictions even if you're buy second hand military hardware and sad to say that this beloved country of ours has "infractions" that will or has prevented us from purchasing some of these)

I agree..

Pero how come even 3rd world countries maka support man?

I dont know if we are barred to purchase military hardware since we wala man tay sanctions.

Like sa Indonesia, after the East Timor violence.. The US imposed a military embargo.. making their F16's hard to maintain.. so they look somewhere else and made a deal with Russia to supply them military weapons.

Because its the NEED and not the WANT bro .

I was there when the CIVIL WAR broke out within INDONESIA and EAST TIMOR sanctioned by the UN FORCES . There is still threat till today considering INDONESIA as an example . It is a big mass of land .

There is an old saying: 'For want of a nail, the horseshoe was lost. For want of a horseshoe, the steed was lost. For want of a steed, the message was not delivered. For want of message, the war was lost.

According to Air Force Public Information officer Major Gerardo M. Zamudio Jr., that aside from the new SF-260 trainer planes and night capable attack helicopters, the PAF is set to purchase under its capability upgrade program, 8 primary trainer aircraft, 10 additional Huey UH-1H utility helicopters, 8 brand new combat utility helicopters, 8 new attack helicopters, 2 light lift aircraft, and 12 trainer helicopters.

The Air Force is also out to upgrade 20 MD520MG attack helicopters.

These acquisitions and upgrades, including aerial surveillance cameras, communication equipment, 1.2-ton trucks, and additional military hardware, are part of PAF’s Horizon 1, the internal security - centered stage of modernization focused on making insurgent groups irrelevant by the year 2010.

Horizon 2, the transition stage to territorial defense, is set to take effect by 2012.[10]

Air Force Chief Lt. Gen. Pedrito Cadungog said the Air Force is presently in the process of making a study of what type of fighter jets they are going to acquire. He said the acquisition can only start after 2010 which is the projected defeat of internal security threats."

i saw 4 bnew attack helis carried and unloaded via antonov carriers here in cebu last year.. i've been trying to search it on the web also but cant find as of now of the exact classifications/make/model of those helis..

Philippine Airforce - does it exist?

You can never belong to the weakest if it's not there.

I wonder how my friends in the PAF would react reading your remark.

Maglisod man gani budget sa patrol car sa pulis, mangandoy pa ta jetfighter sa airforce. Ibulsa na lang na sa goberno sa manila para mo-taas ang pundo sa ilang bank account. Kaluoy sa mga pinoy.

i pity the PAF pilots, they have to fly their old aircrafts, putting their life at risk, to serve the country. they should be provided with better aircraft.

that is y we are the #1 human labor exporter in the world...and our goverment is damned very proud of our kababayan hail as "HEROES"....what heroes?....heroes for thier a***ss? may lang ato goverment mo sugarcoat ana nga term heroes pero ang reality perte ka paet ni malayo sa pamilya just to make our goverment fat a****ss...forgive me for being sarcastic but i think its very clear man pod that our government system is rotten way au in general...IMHO b4 we aim of competitive organization in our goverment chain of command we need to trim down those corrupt and TRAPOs...look Ukraine, Uzbekistan, and yes even Algeria has a MIG-29 fighter jet courtesy of the soviet etc..where chaos and uncertainty looms with them b4 but they have acquired modern warfare...it merely depends on kinsa nag dala sa renda sa ato goberno...ato style gud kana man "Scratch where it itches" mentality..JMHO..
