Cory Aquino has colon cancer

Former president Corazon Aquino has been diagnosed with colon cancer, her daughter, Kris, revealed Monday.

Kris said her mother underwent several tests after being hospitalized for high blood pressure last December.

Our mom wanted to know what was wrong with her, and with her family by her side, she submitted herself to a check-up and several tests. The results showed that our mother is suffering from cancer of the colon," Kris told ABS-CBN Chief Correspondent Korina Sanchez.
She said the Aquinos opted to tell the public because they still believe in the power of prayers in the hope that millions of Filipinos will pray for the fomer president. Kris' brother, Sen. Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III, also urged the public to respect their family's privacy.

ris said the former president started losing her appetite last December despite being a healthy eater. "She likes to eat fruits and vegetables. We just want to emphasize that throughout our lives, she's never been sick. The time we brought her to the hospital last Christmas was the first time," she said.

"She lost 10 pounds in a span of about two weeks," she added.

Kris also revealed that her maternal grandmother was diagnosed with the same condition and had to undergo treatment in Boston.

Colon cancer is treatable...in the US, tag $1,000 ang pgpa tangtang ana. Common disease na sa mga amerkano. maybe due to their eating lifestyle... i have a relative who is now a colon cancer surgeon in the US...she operates 1-5 patients a day...

Will pray for her recovery... my grandmother was diagnosed with colon cancer last 1981 here in the Philippines and was given a poor prognosis. However, she opted to fight, went to the USA and with the help and support of my aunt, had an operation and a series of chemotherapy that left her weak after each session but only renewed her faith and hope in God. Thank God, she has lived through that and is now 92 years old, still alive and active...
I hope that the cancer which Cory has isn't too far advanced, and that she, too will live through this...
