IDN Club Philippines & HP Invent presents [b]The 1st Extreme Digital Explosion 07[b] The Clash of the Digital Titans Open to all Digital Artists & Photographers Theme: Create, Innovate, Invent Category Hard: Artworks or Graphic Arts that take advantage of editing software like Adobe Photoshop - editing features including, but not limited to, special effects, compositions, montages, etc., with or without the aid of additional software. Category Soft Photography, enhanced in editing software like Adobe Photoshop by way of cropping, color correction or other enhancements as necessary to improve its composition or general appearance. RULES & REGULATION RULES: 1. Each participant is allowed to submit a maximum of three entries per category. 2. All entries should be the designer's original interpretation of the contest theme and not lifted from other sources. IdN Club Philippines will not be held liable for any copyright infringement committed by the participant. 3. Each entry should be an artwork not previously published or entered into any other competition. 4. Active members of IdN Club Philippines, its affiliates and subsidiary companies or their immediate family and/or those living in the same household are not eligible to join the contest. 5. Participants give IdN club Philippines the right to reproduce their artwork for the website & other materials for purpose of promoting the contest & the Club. Once submitted, entries will not be returned, while winning entries will be considered properties of IdN Club philippines. MECHANICS: 1. Contestants should enclose a personal data sheet containing the following information: full name, address, company/ school, telephone, cellphone, email, website, theme.title of entry. 2. Entries should be printed & saved in A4 size x 300dpi jpeg burned into CD. 3. On a separate word file provide a brief description of the artwork - the concept behind it and the technique used - together with a curriculum vitae and 2x2 photo of the artwork's creator. 4. Enclose each entry, CD, Personal Data Sheet in one short brown envelope with data sheet copy pasted outside. 5. Deadline for submission of entries is 5PM on May 24, 2007. Submit your entries at Philippine Center for Creative Imaging 2247 2/F Kodak Bldg., Don Chino Roces Ave., Makati City. WINNERS: 1. The judges will choose finalists from among the entries. The finalists' works will be exhibited at the Design Gallery of Graphic Expo 2007 on June 6-9, 2007 at the Philippine Trade & Training Center, Roxas Boulevard, Pasay City, Philippines where the announcement of winners will took place in the opening of the Graphic Expo on June 6, 2007. 2. RULES & MECHANICS: THE THEME: Capture “The Beauty of the Philippines!” Send in your most superb images that illustrate the best of anything and everything about the Philippines. The theme is divided into the following: CATEGORIES: The Beauty of Philippine Scapes (Scenic shots. If the shots include people in the frame, the ratio to the total composition should be very minimal) - landscapes - seascapes - cityscapes - nightscapes - underwater shots - historical landmarks - architecture - leisure spots - night-out hotspots The Beauty of the Filipino Spirit (portraits, people, values) - People (the major element in the composition should be a person/people) - Remarkable depictions of Filipino values (i.e., industriousness, sincerity, simplicity, earnestness, etc.); - human emotions (i.e. triumph, love, happiness, etc.); Family, Friendship, Childhood, etc. The Beauty of Filipino Culture (fests, events, arts, lifestyle) - festivities - events - traditions - arts - food And remember to LET YOUR PASSION FLY HIGH! *The indicated elements are suggestions, ideas, and guides as to subjects that can fall under the theme. Subjects for the entries, however, ARE NOT LIMITED TO THESE elements alone. Participants may use any Digital or Film based camera, provided that the photo Entry/s will be printed on an EPSON printer (Printer’s serial number is needed) and on any brand of photo papers. The entries submitted should be of the following sizes: Professional Division: A3 or 11 inches x 17 inches Printed on Epson Printer Enthusiast Division: A4 or 8.5 inches x 11 inches Printed on Epson Printer Kids Division: 5x7 (5R) Printed on any photo lab White borders around the area are optional, but should not exceed one inch (1") on all sides. B&W, sepia tone, colored, digital or digitally converted film negative entries will be accepted. Printed output that is manually retouched and/or painted over is not allowed.Creative effects done within the camera at the time of exposure, such as multiple exposures, flash fill, lighting, filtration, etc. are allowed. Digital retouching IS TOLERABLE on density, contrast adjustments, minor cropping on composition, burning, and dodging, and global adjustments. Major manipulation of main images through adding and subtracting are NOT allowed. The photo may or may not have been taken during the competition period. Entries must NOT have won any other contests/competitions nor have been published in any book or photography magazine. The name of the participant should not appear on the face of the entry. The decision of the board of judges will be final. Selected entries will be required by Philippine Airlines and its organizer Eastgate Oneworkshop, Inc. to submit the ORIGINAL negative or digital file for evaluation and publishing purposes. DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF ENTRIES Deadline for submission of entries (Metro Manila) is on August 25, 2007.
