What's more important is that you start shooting and learning. There's always a new model coming your way.
So if you're just gonna wait for the next best thing, then you're just gonna keep on waiting.

The safest way to go would be Canon or Nikon as they've already established a presence here in Cebu and
there's a heavily fortified camp on both sides to back you up

So, go with the Canon 350D/400D or Nikon D50/D80. If you plan on doing some heavy shooting then get
a 30D or D200. Heavy shooting?!! Jeeze, I'm been using a 300D heavily for the past 2 years and it's still kicking!
And many professionals can say the same thing of their 70D's.[br]Posted on: September 25, 2006, 12:12:42 AM_________________________________________________

Question... why would you upgrade to a full frame in the first place? Some guys who got the
5D full frame camera hardly use the full 12 megapixels.

One prominent wedding photographer sets his 6 megapixel camera to 3 when covering events.

The full frame sensors were developed mainly for the seasoned photographers who already
invested a lot in quality glass over the years and lost the "wide" capability of those lenses due
to the crop factor. While new lenses are made to make the most of todays APS sized sensors.

EF-S lenses are expensive? For now... but they'll get cheaper. And using full frame lenses
on APS sized cameras is sometimes better as the image is concentrated on that oh-so-sharp
sweet spot in the center of the lens. Besides, you could go with Sigma or Tamron who
make digital prioirty lenses that are on par with the famed "L" specs.

So actually, there's no need now to go full frame anymore with new developments to make
the most out of today's dSLR's.

For me, the idea of going full frame would be a medium format with a digital back!

Quantaray's are a bit cheaper. 2X Cheaper than the Nikon 18-200mm VR. Or I might get the Tamron instead. Quantaray's are rebranded Tamron's for Ritz Camera. More of the lower end. And since, am still a starter.. I need a lens that will give me more space to practice some wide angles, some telephoto and some portraits without the extra cost yet.

if i may suggest... go for a cheaper dslr body than a cheap lens for a start... i've been there and have been disappointed by those cheap lens, and no matter how good your dslr body will be, its the lens that will ruin your shots.

invest on good lenses na daan para dili ka magmahay. its easier to sell the cheap dslr bodies to beginners when you're ready to upgrade, than cheap lenses.

there are tamrons and sigmas that are really great, check out the reviews of real users and not just reviews done by sellers. there are also canon and nikon lenses that are poor in quality... you get what yu pay for. lenses dont depreciate that much compared to bodies too... so do the math
THOSE CHEAP LENSES YOU ACQUIRE NOW WILL JUST END UP IN THE BAG WHEN YOU'RE READY TO UGRADE... unless you sell it half the price you got it for.

1950s body with the latest digital features

Leica Camera AG, Solms is exhibiting the new LEICA M8 at photokina in Cologne (26th September to 1st October 2006). It is the first digital camera to use the Leica viewfinder system. All the key characteristics of the analog Leica reporter’s camera such as the compact design, the exceptional picture quality in conjunction with the Leica M lenses and the unique picture composition using the Leica viewfinder have been seamlessly carried over into the digital world.

This professional-standard digital camera “Made in Germany” uses an image sensor specially developed for the requirements of the Leica M system. Almost all Leica M system lenses made since 1954 are also suitable for digital photography, thanks to their high performance level. The combination of lenses, sensor and high-performance picture editing generates outstanding picture quality with a resolution of 10.3 million pixels.

The new LEICA M8 has a notably low-noise CCD image sensor with a basic speed of ISO 160. The maximum speed of ISO 2500 means the new camera is ideally suited to available light photography, a typical Leica M feature. The LEICA M8 offers the photographer many useful details such as a tone value histogram which permits qualitative exposure control for even the smallest details of the subject in each enlargement section. Thanks to really simple operation with very few controls and clearly laid-out menus, the new camera also demonstrates typically Leica concentration on the essentials.

“The LEICA M8 enriches digital photography with tradition, values and inspiration” says Dr. Ralph Nebe, “Above all the new LEICA M8 shows that the Leica Camera AG has found its own path straight into the digital world. With enhanced innovative power for digital solutions in both the camera and sport optics product sectors, together with rigorous updating of analog solutions, the company is fit for the future again.“

The LEICA M8 will be available in the shops end of November 2006.
