Smile fiber optic connection daw?

Hello istoryans!

I have a friend living in sandayong minglanilla and wants to have a MyDSL internet connection. I told him to goto the nearest PLDT office and inquire about the MyDSL internet connection since naa naman sila PLDT nga phone.

Any help is a great Help.

Thanks,
zentarrhae

1. I have never heard of a telephone line that is fiber optic, telephone lines are made of copper, correct me if im wrong.
2. If you are satisfied with smartbro speeds which is around 384kbps depending on how many people are sharing in a DP, then go ahead.
3. Maybe what the agent is trying to say is that wala pay DP(Distribution Point) near sa ilang location, gansihon sila sa wire. Hehehehe

Good luck!

Fiber optic is from the exchange to the cabinet (NGN), and from the cabinet to your house just plain copper wire...

@zentarhhae...im no techie but im working in a company that manufactures fiber optic cables
1. dili fiber optic ang cable nga directly connecting sa phone, what is made of fiber is the mainline/backbone line kanang naa sa mga poste nag agi, the reason why they use fibers basta layo because fiber optics has the capability sending data far enough without sacrificing output and without the need of boosters, unlike anang karaan na Co-axial cables wherein need mag instal ug boosters evry 3-5kms para di low ang output sa signal or in technical term ATTENUATION..so maka save ang company...so possible that the area where your friend lives Fiber optic ang mainline diha.

2. smartbro is feasible sad ky wireless mana ila technology so no matter how far you are, for as long naay signal sa smart (wireless) maka internet ka, thats an advantage pud on far flung areas where wired connection is not possible, smart communications inc.is a sister company of PLDT, so when the sales agent refered him to smart, ilaha ra gihapon na, unless a PLDT guy will refer you to GLOBE hehehe..

dude strategy na nila. murag sa globe dili ka tauran kung dili mu abot ug 12applicants sa inyong area. because 1 DP(Distribution Point)= 12subscribers para dili sila ma gansi. maro kayo sila noh? hehehehe good luck! i suggest go with bayantel, mas mahal pero very stable.
