Default adding wireless connectivity at home ?

my router is a prolink 9200p. not wireless.
what should i buy/get to add wireless connectivity to this router?
will this cdr-king wireless lan usb adapter (around 680.00) do the trick? i know it is used to connect the unit to the lan wirelessly but can i make that one as internet access point also, using it the other way around?

thanks in advance!

You cant if it aint wireless. You have to acquire a router with wireless capabilities in order for wireless lan usb/pci adapters to be able to connect to it.

got your point . i think you need to have a wireless access point(transmit/received) and not the pc itself...

have tried it before to connect my nokia6600 using bluetooth, i lost the procedure but it did work. internet browsing in my cellphone thru bluetooth connectivity. some kind of dial-up configuration (RAS).

wireless router is the only way you can share your connection.

thanks everyone, i guess there's no other way around then. the bluetooth procedure is just too lengthy & manual.

Additionally, you can use it with other WiFi enabled devices including PDAs and laptops to access the internet so it's pretty versatile

@janhenz1: wifi usb key

yeah! something like that. my suspicion is that it's the samething as the usb wireless lan but it's the software that will turn it into an access point. now, where can i find one? --search mode --

sa ako nabasa sa box ana wireless lan usb adapter, you can use it as an access point. So it should do the trick if you want your desktop be the source of the internet connection.

if you want to do internet connection sharing, check this out.. -->

http://support.microsoft.com/common/surveysubmit.asp

from what i understood, you can do this with a lan connection. perhaps, can do using wireless but must have wireless adapters in each on the computers..

but definitely, you must have a wireless router to gain wireless connection. no other way.
wireless lan adapters are for computers to have wireless capability. a wireless router will make the inet connection you have from your modem broadcast a wireless signal. so computers with wlan can connect and go completely wireless. a wireless access point works the same way as wireless router.

i stand corrected, you can get a wireless connection without a wireless router using adhoc connection. you must enable internet connection sharing. but must have a wireless adapter in both of your computers. it will work but could be hard sometimes.. and the inet connection might be slow.

follow instructions on this site:
Making the Wireless Home Network Connection in Windows XP Without a Router
