 I've heard stories, from relatives up north as well as from some Cebuano friends who have bands who've been to manila...nga lahi ra jud kuno ta mga taga Cebu. Well, our bands anyway. Some of their stories just flabbergast me, ambot lang. Pero judging lang sa mga gipang-istorya nila, makasulti jud ko nga mas maau ta diri hehehe...modesty aside.  kahibaw na man sad cguto ta's kalaki sa uban nilang band didto (if not most of them. there are a select few though nga payter jud). I mean, pop rock o pogi rock nga band unya naa gyuy tag-duha (sometimes 3) ka tech kada instrumento?? WTF! na pay ig setup, inig saka sa stage diha pa magtuno ug instrumento, gi-ahak! apilan pa ug soundcheck2x kuno nga di muubos ug 25 mins (usahay sobra pa jud kuno), maglangay-langay. bati-a bitaw hehehe. whereas kung cebu kuno nga banda (with the exception of... hehehe, ay na lang!  ), dali ra kau maka setup: paslak instrumento, timpla gamay sa gadget ug amp, check ang monitors kung ok ba, di abtan ug 10 minutes humana. Kombati na. Ambot lang, I still wish to see this for myself the next time muadto ko ug Manila. Pero sa stories lang daan, ang labas ani we have the better bands in this side of the archipelago. :mrgreen:

depende ra pud kay naay banga sa manila then naa pud sa cebu. Advantage lang sila sa Manila kay do-ul sa Luwag, mao kitang mga cebuano inig ka baid na nato ug maau diri. una pa ta maka panulong sa kauluhan.
murag in ana ang ako pang lantaw ana.

for me wer at par with manila bands....ang advantage lng ky mas naa ang mga lucrative recording contracts didto and naa ang mga hi tech nga recording studios didto...basically technolgically advabce lng sa cla in terms of recording equipments...but talent wise wer d same with them or if not mas talented pa :mrgreen:

di na tinuod burnbad oi. ive been to many gigs in manila and wala man ko kita ug ing.ana. i know a lot of bands from manila nga mga sikat jud and goes on tour a lot but 3 techs per instrument? thats exageration. 3 techs per band cguro. mag.tune sa stage? those are not known bands id say coz majority of the bands in manila who have "techs" tune their instruments way before their set pa man gani and about the 25 min. or more soundcheck? u really believe that? bands in manila dont even soundcheck. they just let their "techs" do the work when they start playing.

i think our professional bands here are at par with manila bands. pero ug hisgutay na asa man daghan maayo, sa manila jud. shempre sa population pa lang daan, labaw kaayo sila and trust me, daghan maayo mu guitara didto na way mga tarong na bands or just refuse to form one. And ang maayo didto, maayo jud kaayo. Naa man tingali sab diri sa Cebu but compared to manila na by the fistful...
 i still say Cebu bands have what it takes jud. Unless the tagalogs will learn to get over pogi rock and mature overnight, maglisod ug invade ang mga up and coming bands from diri Cebu.

Manila bands are really far far behind by the talents and the skills of Cebuanos..
and the way we cebuanos make and play the music... rock on to all cebuano rockers out there..! \m/ |
